Plantronics CS520 overview

  • 1Description

The CS520 Wireless Headset System by Plantronics is destined to be the new standard in DECT (digital enhanced cordless telecommunication) wireless headsets. DECT technology provides superb audio and eliminates interference from Wi-Fi networks.

The CS520 has all the features you could ask for in a wireless headset starting with its elegant, contemporary design and lightweight 3.31 oz (94 g) headset with one-touch call/answer, volume, mute and flash controls all at your fingertips. The headset provides up to 350 feet of hands-free operation with a replaceable battery which charges in three hours and lasts up to nine.

If that wasn't enough, it also offers a noise-canceling microphone which reduces background ambiance ensuring exceptional audio quality and easing listener fatigue. While you're the one listening, SoundGuard technology protects against sound levels above 118 dBA and Anti-startle technology detects and eliminates large and sudden increases in signal level.

Setup is simple. The CS520 base connects to any desk phone with the included telephone interface cable. To answer, simply press the call/answer button on the headset or for touchless operation, enable the auto answer feature allowing you to accept incoming calls by a simple lift of the handset. Once connected, you'll experience high definition voice quality with advanced wideband audio technology and enhanced DSP (digital signal processing) making speech sound clearer and more natural.

New headsets can be connected to the base by simply docking them. Once a headset has been docked, you can then begin using it right away with the system. Conference in up to three additional headsets for enhanced collaboration and use the optional Electronic Hookswitch Cable or Handset Lifter for remotely answering or ending calls (each sold separately).

Please note! This headset is designed to work with most desktop phones on the market. For specific compatibility, please check the Plantronics website, where you can enter the make and model number of your phone.

    Plantronics CS520 reviews

CS520 Wireless Headset System is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 146.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really nice, however the mute button is not good I use this as an over-the-head set and I don't use the little silicon ear insert, I use the over-the-ear cushion, and it is very comfortable. I spend 3-4 hours on the phone per day as I telecommute: comfortable; good battery life for my use; great range throughout the house. My only gripe keeping this from a 5 is the Mute button. The mute should have been a separate button from the volume control. Pressing down on it can something create a double-click, and you aren't always sure if it is enabled or not. I sometime have to press it several times to make sure it is engaged. On the CS55, there was a faint little beep to tell you Mute is engaged, on this head set none.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from In our business it is great to have our hands free while we are on the phone with our customers. We often need to get up to obtain a loan file, or to walk across the office to speak with another colleague while we are on the line. Our new Plantronics CS540's work great for our team, and make us more efficient in our work. We loved the CS line and wanted to stay with Plantronics because it is a local company, and my perception is that Plantronics is the industry standard. I receive catalogs in the mail from other companies, but I don't perceive the same quality that I recurrently have had with Plantronics.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great buy for the money I bought this from B&H because if thier customer service, but also because they've got the best prices. I work in a call center, with an extremely loud coworker sitting behind me, and these did the trick! You can adjust the settings just so to twek the sound to your liking. The only negative is they don't cancel out as much of the background noise on the receiving end as they do on my end (eg. the customer can still hear a little bit of noise, but this is still as vast imporovement on the standard set a call center issues you.) Also, if you like to walk around while you're on the phone, then this is a great headset for the money!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing! This was bought for me by my company and compared to the previous Plantronics headset that I was using this is sub par! Even with the volume up completely everyone on the other end complains that they cannot hear me or I sound like I'm in a vacuum and very far away. Even though its lighter than the previous one it is way more awkward and does not fit around my ear as comfortably as the other one did. I would just switch back to my old one but the battery life is down to less than 6 hours and you can't get replacements for it any longer. I am very disappointed in this version headset and can't wait til it no longer works so that my company will find an alternate one to purchase for me!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Performance I spend a lot of time in my Real Estate business on the phone with Clients.Ease of use, clarity and volume management are critical. Although installation is easy, remember to order an appropriate Lifter for the phone handset and there are a few simple instructions for installing the Lifter that are missing. Once ready to install Lifter, plug in Lifter to cradle and then unplug power to the cradle for 10+ seconds, then restart. Plus, on the top of the Model CO54 cradle, there is a black button with arrow, depress that for 5 sec+ and then all should work fine. Well worth the purchase, price and installation effort. Excellent tech support. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Multiple audio issues My boss purchased this for me to begin using in November. At first it has a bad echo. Customer support was very helpful with that. Then the sound began to crackle and the volume would get low. Eventually it would cut off during the calls. Plantronics has been very good in customer service and after trying more things, and even trying it with a different phone, they are replacing it in early February. It simply has not worked well most of the time I've had it, and I really hope the replacement works better.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It could be better The worst part about this headset for me is that the battery doesn't last for my full work day.  I spend the first hour answering phones without it so I can get through the rest of the day without it beeping in my ear that last hour. I've asked my workplace to order something else for me and everyone else that might need a headset. A product should at least be able to make it through an 8 hour work day.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good sound, hate the mute button My employer just got me a new headset (CS530). The sound is very good. I absolutely hate the mute though. It takes too long for the mute to engage, hurts your ear since you have to press and hold down the volume button to engage mute and repeat that in order to disengage the mute. Stupid design. Also, I cannot answer my particular phone (Meridian) by pressing the answer button on the headset. I have to press the answer button on the headset AND the phone base. I do love the cordless design and seems to have great range.
