Chimera Octa Beauty Overview

Chimera's Octa Collapsible Beauty Dish has a white interior and provides a unique mix of diffused light with a crisp edge. The lightweight, 24" dish folds up like a softbox for easy storage and transport.

Use it in classic mode with the included center bounce disc or remove the disc for a harder, bare bulb look. Add the included front diffuser and you've got a 24" OctaPlus lightbank with wraparound light quality and circular catchlights. The 24" beauty dish uses standard OctaPlus speed rings or the Versi Octa speed ring for on-camera flash use.

This is a brilliant design with the rod pockets sewn behind the dish so they do not cast reflections.  Precurved rods also make it easy to put together quickly.  I like this dish better than the umbrella style ones that I have.  If you need a portable beauty dish, this one is nice.

After using both Profoto and Chimera light modifiers I've found Chimera to create a prettier light. The Octa 30' is creates beautiful wrap-around light. Great for portraits. Can't get much better than Chimera.

I really love this modifier. The build quality is great and the light quality is now one of my favorites. I've used it to make a dozen or so portraits and every time I love the results. Portraits Weddings Commercial Photography Its light weight and easy to use.

Yes, it's incredibly expensive, but then you snap your photos and forget all about cost and go why, oh why didn't I buy this sooner. Sure there's setup and dismantling time, but they decrease with use and practice. Again, shoot, go ah So much love I'm feeling for my Octa Beauty that when shooting natural light only or ambient plus a reflector I'm often wishing I could bring this out. I love the flexibility of the light edges with this kit. Fantastic!

The idea of this thing is very appealing for location shooting, though the descriptions and tech specks are not clear neither here on B&H website, nor on Chimera's website. And yes, there are much less expensive alternatives.

True that this little octabox is pricey BUT, consider the materials used and light quality and your preferences to softness and portability, this is the ideal choice. You can purchase something similar that is made in some other country for a couple of dollars but, will it stand up to heavy use ? These units are made right here in the good ole USA and are used by discriminating photogs around the world. Yes, I would purchase again(despite high cost)

I was looking for a portable alternative to my Mola Demi dish- one that was collapsible and would accept a dual speed light speedring - and this was a perfect solution. The quality of light from this seems to be really beautiful, although I haven't yet done a head-to-head comparison with the Demi. I appreciate how light this collapsible dish is, and the fact that it accepts grids (which the cheaper Impact option doesn't).

the item in the box in your website including Rear Closure For Use with Camera Flash, I should get the rear closure with the package, but the rear closure is not the standard item as described in its package instruction, so I didn't get it. IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG??

Will this product work with a Nikon SB 700 and a PocketWizard Flex TT5? If so, what accessories would I need to purchase with this product to make that combo work?

Yes, this kit will work with a Nikon SB700 and PocketWizard Flex TT5 unit. The bracket comes with a standard shoe mount to mount the SB700 onto, and there is a part of the bracket behind where the flash shits which has room and 3 mounting holes you could screw a 1/4 -20 threaded wing-nut into the bottom of the PocketWizard with (or you could simply hang the Pocket Wizard via the supplied lanyard.
