Artist Mix from Avid is a EUCON enabled control surface that delivers the feel and deep software integration of a professional console, but in a cost effective and compact package. Eight motorized, touch-sensitive, 100mm long throw faders, and eight touch- and velocity-sensitive rotary encoders provide fast access to a variety of software functions, from adjusting audio levels, plug-in parameters, panning, automation modes, and much more, with excellent visual feedback.

The EUCON protocol carries high-resolution control information for faders, knobs, displays, and more between the control surface and whatever application is in focus on the computer. This enables the user to quickly switch between multiple applications (and even workstations) at the touch of a button, with all controls and displays automatically matching the selected application. Instant positional feedback is displayed on the high-resolution OLED displays.

A "Fader Flip" function allows for controlling plug-in parameters with the faders. Bank tracks (eight at a time) or nudge tracks (one at a time) using dedicated keys that assist in navigation through a project. Individual tracks can be locked to faders and stored as Layouts, which are saved with the project for easy recall (up to 48 per project), making mixing large projects a breeze. Save multiple Layouts to mix drums, keyboards, guitars, and so on, or just lock a fader to act as a master fader.

The eight 128 x 64-pixel OLED displays allow for easily viewing track names/numbers, detailed metering data (from mono to 5.1 surround), parameter names/values, current automation mode, and more. And because the Artist Series controllers are modular, they can be combined in a variety of configurations to form larger control surfaces. Simply clip the units together to form a seamless surface, or use them separately.

Artist Mix - Touch-Sensitive Fader Control Surface is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can't get it to work with Cubase 8 It seems like a neat product, and if it worked it would be just what I need. I have Cubase 8 and Windows 7, and bought the Artist Mix as well as Transport. I've spent maybe 8 hours so far trying to get it to work and for the life of me I absolutely can't; it is recognized in the Eucon program but in Cubase just sits there with little lines on the display but is not recognized. I have a Masters in engineering, and am good at debugging code and hardware, and have searched all the forums and tried what they try, but to no avail. I can't believe it's so hard to set up after being out so long; I would have thought the bugs would be worked out by now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only for advanced mixers This is an excellent product that works exactly as advertised. To use, you must connect the system via ethernet or via wifi (ethernet into router or wifi point) and, using the latest version of EUCONTROL (EUCON), you can connect the peripheral to any of your DAWs. I personally use Pro Tools which works perfectly with this mixer. If you're not an advanced mixer, you don't need this product. Try one of the cheaper ones if you're really interested and then purchase this one (there's a cheap Behringer one if you're interested). Otherwise, if you're a mixer building up your kit, this is necessary. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Compact Control Surface for Pro Tools I use this to mix audio (dialog, music, narration and ambient track) for video with Pro Tools software. There is a lot more here than meets the eye...although there are only 8 sliders on the surface, by using the bank keys you can actually control up to 48 tracks in a single project by scrolling through banks of eight tracks. Just getting started with the surface and already can see this will both be a time saver and provide better feel during the mixing process. This surface will also function very well with other DAWs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Plug and play - very responsive I use Artist Mix with Cakewalk's Sonar X1 Producer and Windows 7 Home Premium OS. Installation was quick and easy and after downloading the Eucon driver from Cakewalk for Windows 7 64 bit OS, the hardware was recognized and I could start working immediately. The faders and knobs are sensitive and have a flexible but solid feel to them. Only regret is that the tool is clearly built to interface with ProTools so a small portion of the functionality is not usable with Sonar. Should not sway decision to purchase - still an amazing piece of equipment!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Workflow boost I use this product to mix music, and for postproduction. Faders are smooth, responsive, and great to work with. I use this with Protools 11. I Can control an entire session with it, very easy to learn how to use. the artist mix helps me improve my workflow and produce a better sounding and more organic mix. The faders give you much more precision than a mouse can. EUCON 3 still has a few difficulties connecting to protools, but it only takes a few minutes of tinkering to get it to work (usually as long as it takes to reset protools). The legs that are supplied with the unit don't give it a steep enough angle for my taste, they are also a little difficult to take off when you need to store or move the unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Function meets Elegance I purchased the Artist Mix to sit next to the Artist Control and other Artist Mix i already have in my arsenal. I use this setup to control just about anything for 20 channels MIDI and Audio within Cubase 8 Pro. The build quality is superb, but that is no surprise coming from AVID. The units are sturdy yet elegant. Fader movement is smooth and the EUCON control is thorough. tHe architecture is well laid out. Although the build quality is excellent, there are a couple of things under the hood that could use improvement. The Jog shuttle wheel could use improvement. The jog feature does not lock to quantize value or snap to beat and measure which makes it near useless. Each click of the jog wheel should be synced to the quantize value and timing. The only other negative point is the price. Despite build quality and features, these units are twice the price they should be. If they were more reasonable in price i would give 5 stars. Although i must say that since i now own three of them, the Rolls Royce pricing structure did not stop me from purchasing them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent solution! We are a high school TV Production studio that has recently upgraded our control room. We've started using this control surface with our new TriCaster 460. It seems to be a great solution to split up jobs in our educational environment, ie: getting students away from the mouse and actually using a piece of equipment. Works seamlessly with the 460. Providing great sound and easy to set up and use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Buggy I had to struggle to get the control surface to communicate with my Pro Tools 10.3.9 on my Mac Mini. It seems like the Eucon software is a bit of a workaround and not fully integrated into the Pro Tools workflow. Finally it works most of the time after experimenting with different versions of Eucon and setting a fixed IP address. I did contemplate returning it. But it still stops communicating with pro Tools for no reason and I have to restart to get it going again.
