question
But can the 1/4 - 20 lug on top be taken out and then a 1/4 -20 screw be screwed into it from the top? I guess what I'm asking is if the hole on top is threaded.
The Rotator has a standard 1/4 male thread and it is not designed to take that out and be used direct with a male thread. It is 3/8ths female thread any way.

question
Does the center 1/4 x 20 lug come out of the top? I'm asking because I have panoramic system consisting of rails that I would mount to the top of this, but there is only an unthreaded hole on my bottom rail and the screw would need to screw into this rotator from the top, just like the Nodal Ninja rotators work.
The 1/4 -20 attachment is a bushing adapter and is removable. The thread mount on the Sunwayfoto DDP-64M Indexing Rotator is 3/8 -16.
