  • 1Description

The MH5310-655C Ballhead with Arca-Style Quick Release Plate from Giottos utilizes an Arca-style clamp with length scale and 360° dial for panoramic shooting. This professional ballhead provides high stability and fine adjustments.

With a separate base and ball panning mechanism, the ball can stay locked during panning allowing the camera to stay level, so you won't need to carry a separate leveling base to take accurate panoramic images. Weighing less than 1 lb, the MH5310-655C is a small, but sturdy package that supports loads up to 8.8 lbs, which makes it a great choice for travel with precision control.

360° panning and 90° tilt with separate pan base and ball locks. It also features a 360° dial to ensure equal panning when shooting panoramic images

    Giottos MH5310 reviews

MH5310-655C Ballhead with Arca-Style Quick Release Plate is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small and lightweight I like this for travel because it is small and lightweight. There is some drift with larger lenses like the Canon 70-200mmL lense. Smaller lenses work fine. It feels and looks more appropriate for a mono-pod. It is easy to use, but the large Quick Release Knob gets in the way sometimes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Micro 4/3 Don't let the small size fool you. This is a fantastic ballhead for a micro 4/3 setup, and easily handles my Olympus E-M10 rig with body, grip, flash, macro lens & macro rail. No problems at all. It is a great backcountry head, and at 0.6 pounds an excellent head for a lightweight monopod / hiking staff. It's pan & tilt are very smooth. It does not have a separate tension control, but I don't miss it (or really want it). Since I use this head on a very lightweight carbon fiber tripod, I find tension control to actually be more of a problem than it's worth. I just use the tilt release for tension control. If I could, I would take off 1/2 star for two things ... but only a 1/2 star because they're not really that big of a deal. First, the safety pin release on the mount plate was very rough upon initial use. It's a very simple metal on metal design, so I pulled out the red release (simply push down & hold the brass safety pin & the red pin should slide right out), added a drop of silicone spray & since then through repeated use, it has become much smoother. Second, the bubble levels are pretty much useless .. as they are on nearly every tripod head I've ever seen. Fortunately Olympus (and many others) build electronic levels into their cameras now (and they are much better than ANY bubble level).I thought long & hard about getting the MH5400 instead as it's just 0.15 pounds heavier, and handles 4 pounds more weight. But in the backcountry every ounce counts, and there is no way my micro 4/3 right will ever even come close to the (very conservative) 8.8 pounds the MH5310 is rated for. Plus I like the smaller plate.
