ZEISS 1933-986 overview

  • 1Description

The 77mm Carl ZEISS T* UV Filter from ZEISS is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. No additional coloration or contrast effects are provided, rendering a clean and natural appearance.

A UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

The T* anti-reflective coating helps to reduce reflections on the filter's surface and promote a better light transmission for high quality imagery. The filter ring is designed with a slim profile to allow its use on wide angle lenses, but front filter threads are still available for the use of additional filters.

    ZEISS 1933-986 reviews

77mm Carl ZEISS T* UV Filter is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again and again Give your lenses the best protection with the Carl Zeiss T* UV Filter 77mm. This UV Filter features T* anti-reflective coating from Carl Zeiss that provides optimal protection for the front element of your lens. They also ensure absolute brilliance without altering the color rendition or exposure time. UV filters from Carl Zeiss block ultraviolet light, but are fully transparent to the visible components of light. Therefore, they are crystal-clear and do not require longer exposure times. While taking pictures with a high degree of UV light (e.g. long-distance shots, in the mountains or on the water) they can eliminate light haze and enable higher color saturation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Typical Zeiss Quality I use the Zeiss UV filters on the front of every lens I own. They provide top-shelf protection against the elements, and are extremely easy to screw on and off. Never once have one of these filters gotten jammed onto one of my lenses. While they do provide excellent protection, I never shoot with one of these UV filters on the lens. I prefer to only use a filter when absolutely necessary (i.e. ND filters or a polarizer)...otherwise I want nothing between the lens and the subject. Any UV filter, regardless of its quality, can introduce flair or other unwanted reflections if you are shooting directly into the sun or into another light source.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good. I normally buy B+W filters, but wanted to try this Zeiss filter since it's going on the Otus and not much difference in price compared to B+W. Looks like high quality glass and manufacturing. Haven't had a chance to use it for a few weeks, but so far, so good. Images look good. In the long term, I'm curious to see how the filter repels dust and debris. One of the coated B+W filters does a great job at repelling dust, while the Nikon clear filter I have seems to attract more. Hopefully the Zeiss coating works as good as B+W's.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Divine presentation Without the proper scentific equipment it is difficult to review an UV filter. I personally bought this Zeiss filter to couple it with my other Zeiss lenses, and I've never saw any filter from any manufacturer so well presented. As a matter of fact I gave the filter case to my wife so she could use it to store her rings... The filter itself is flawless, and the coating on it looks exactly like my other Zeiss lenses... I'd saw it is a sure buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have for the Batis 18mm I purchased a cheaper filter. It was fine but the problem was the lens cap would not snap on easily. This filter has a slightly larger rim which catches the lens cap easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality & build, perfect for the Zeiss Batis 18mm I've used this Zeiss UV filter on my other Batis and Loxia lenses with excellent results, but was concerned that the 77mm version might add vignetting to the ultra-wide Batis 18mm since it is not as low profile or thin as the B+W XS-Pro filters. After checking with a Carl Zeiss customer service rep., I was assured that it wouldn't contribute any additional vignetting and they were absolutely right. I'd highly recommend this UV filter for the Zeiss.Batis 18mm f/2.8 lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Actuall filters UV This is the only UV filter that actually filters UV. I have used several filter, none with this quality though. If you have a few dollars and really need a filter, take a look at the Zeiss filters. This also doubles as a protective filter. Sometimes you have to pay for quality. I hope this helps you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased with this product While perhaps it is not mandatory to put a UV filter in front of a lens, I prefer doing so since I usually shoot in difficult environments where salt water, steam, sand and rock debris are the norm. These new filters by Zeiss are very well built, the y thread nicely onto the lens thread.I also use the filters as a replacement of the lens cap. This saves me time from opening up the lens cap and fumbling with it, finding a place to store it or putting it in my pocket. With the filter the front element is always protected and I don't have to worry about the caps missing or getting in the way.Optically I see no detriment in picture quality and the T* coating does a very good job minimizing reflections. It also does not create any new ones from light that shines off the lens font element back onto the filter. They are not inexpensive, but I think it is worth paying a few extra bucks.
