Acer C120 overview

  • 1Description

The WVGA Acer C120 Pico Projector packs a lot of features into a projector that's small and compact. It weighs only 6.3 oz (180 g) yet it projects at 100 lumens with a contrast ratio of 1000:1.

Its LED light source never needs replacing because it's expected to last the life of the projector-about 20,000 hours. The display panel that forms the picture is a Texas Instruments Digital Light Processor Digital Micromirror Device. Together they produce images that contain 120 percent of the standard NTSC color gamut (range of colors). And with wall color correction you don't even need a screen to get the right colors.

You don't even have to bring your computer with you. Just transfer pictures and movies to a USB flash drive and you can leave your laptop behind.

Please note! This projector is compatible with PCs only.

    Acer C120 reviews

C120 Pico Projector is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from One Trick Pony Nice Bright screen for a pico led projector, contrast is good. The Focus adjustment is hard to use due to the fact that is seems to be loosely geared to the lens. If you overshoot the focus, then you have to go back about an 8th of a turn and then you are likely to miss again... The light weight of the unit makes it subject to the weight of the large plugs on one side, so it will need to be held by a tripod to keep the cord from tipping it over. Tried it on two computers. It wakes up and installs a small CD with drivers each time it is plugged in. This was fine on windows 7, but on XP it wants to keep rebooting the machine to load the drivers. It takes over the computer display and forces it to the native display for the projector. Two huge issues: 1) It can only duplicate the existing display. It can not act as a second monitor like some other USB based monitors. 2) On two computers there was a large intermittent latency, lag, of between 1/2 second and one second. On both monitors, the projector and the built in monitor. This would render video very annoying. It also makes it hard to use a mouse or type due to the delays. It may be able to be used for presentations where there is a simple powerpoint and the presenter is not using a second screen for notes. This would be in a darkened room, and not at maximum size. The USB drivers seem to be the issue. And there is no solution as this will only work with a Windows PC running XP (maybe), VISTA, or windows 7 and only using the USB connection. THere are no other ports on the device. I recommend getting a small projector with standard inputs for your application, as the USB drivers make operation unpredictable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for price I will never think pick projectors are as good as full sized ones. Even for the price they are expensive. But for how small the units is it works awesome. Very little distortion when maximizing image size on the wall. Daytime use is difficult with some light in room but overall bright and sharp at night or in dark room. Focus is a bit hard but still good.
