D-Link DGS-108 overview

  • 1Description

The DGS-108 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch from D-Link provides eight speedy Gigabit Ethernet auto-sensing ports for connecting multiple computer devices to your network. Once you've connected the switch to your network via one Gigabit Ethernet port, you will have seven other ports for connecting printers, scanners, storage, backup devices, and more. Support for Quality of Service (QoS) means the switch will prioritize network traffic that is sensitive to lags, such as video streaming or VoIP calls.

The switch is unmanaged and plug-and-play, so you need not install software first to use it or configure settings for it later. Plus, the diagnostic LEDs on the front panel let you know if there are any connection issues, helping you troubleshoot problems as they arise.

Built-in D-Link Green Technology
Rugged metal housing
Inexpensive Gigabit solution for small and medium business
A total of eight Gigabit Ethernet ports
16Gbps switching fabric
Auto MDI/MDIX crossover for all ports
Secure store-and-forward switching scheme
Full/half-duplex for Ethernet/Fast Ethernet speeds
IEEE 802.3x Flow Control
Supports Jumbo Frames
With support for IEEE 802.1p Quality of Service, the switch organizes and prioritizes time-sensitive and important data for efficient delivery, allowing for smooth media streaming and VoIP calling
The D-Link Cable Diagnostics Function enables users to be instantly aware of cable conditions through the LED display on the front-panel
The switch can also save energy by detecting the cable length and using only as much power as necessary
As a switch supporting IEEE 802.3az Energy-Efficient Ethernet (EEE), the switch can detect when a connected computer is shut down or when there is no Ethernet traffic, at which time the switch will automatically power down the idle port, saving a substantial amount of power

    D-Link DGS-108 reviews

DGS-108 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I use this for my main switch between my Netgear Nighthawk X6 R8000 router/dhcp server/wireless and about a dozen devices (2 other switches connect to this one). I replaced an eight port D-Link switch (DGS-2208) that was working fine after six years. I moved that one downstream. I don't have a quantitative measurement of how it is working, but my impression is that it works really well. Connections seem fast and flawless. I also like the lights and ports on the face. This works better for me, albeit does not affect functionality. I plugged it in and it worked! What more can I say?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a switch... still, it's very good It's an unmanaged switch so it's just about like buying a cable.... it either works or it doesn't. Well, this one does. I like the light layout on the ports: Orange= Tbase100 Green= Gigabit The ports are on the same side as the cables which makes troubleshooting easy. The metal case is excellent, rugged and I just like it a lot more than the cheap feeling plastic cases that cover most non-enterprise networking devices. I am currently using it to expand my network from a TP-Link Archer C7 Router. It is connected with the following: WHS 2011 Home Server Win 7 Pro Desktop Raspberry Pi running OpenELEC version of Frodo 12.2 DirecTV GenieGo DirecTV Broadband DECA adapter All work well at their rated speeds

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'll never buy a hub again! This switch is doing things that no hub could imagine! At a very affordable price, I'm using this with two separate uplinks to two different gateways, and the switch figures out what I'm asking! And it's just Plug and Play. I could not ask for anything more!
