The Acratech Long Lens Head with Fixed Clamp is designed to support super-telephoto lenses as long as 600mm f/4.0. The CNC-machined Long Lens Head with Fixed Clamp weighs less than 1 lb and features an Arca-style quick-release clamp that's compatible with plates from manufacturers such as Arca-Swiss, Kirk, R.R.S., and many others.

This model is effectively the same as Acratech's Long Lens Head (#1160), but without the indexable (rotatable) clamp.

The tension control of the Long Lens Head with Fixed Clamp is fully adjustable to suit heavier and lighter loads, and the head tilts 90° in two directions. Degree markings are engraved, for precise control over panoramic adjustments. All knobs are secured so they cannot vibrate loose and fall off.

Long Lens Head with Fixed Clamp is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect match I use the Acratech LongLens Head together with a 75mm Gitzo levelling base on my Gitzo Serie 2 Carbon with my Canham DLC; it is my mountain hiking gear. The head is very lightwight but with a solid fix, easy to handle with the knobs at the right place to grab; the main knob is rubberized, what is nice when it is in the minus degrees. A perfect match...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great portable solution I've taken on portable urban astrophotography as a hobby, and I've been refining my gear choices to optimize for performance and portability. I can carry all the gear I need (a Questar telescope with an integrated motorized mount, assorted eyepieces, compact CMOS camera, and laptop) in a tricked out backpack -- except the tripod and head. My carbon fiber tripod is just right but I have been unhappy with the weight and bulk of the Manfrotto 410 geared head, which is otherwise perfect for my needs. This head is the best solution I've found to shed weight and take up less space in a suitcase. I haven't fully taken it through its paces yet, but I'm very happy with the size and weight and so far it feels stable enough for my purposes. I'm still experimenting with techniques to achieve relatively fine adjustments -- which is what I traded away from the geared head. For my purposes, adjustment in only two axes is a benefit compared to three for the geared head. I'm curious to see how happy I'll be in a couple of months -- I'll either end up satisfied re: fine adjustments or relegate this to travel only and go back to using the geared head in my own backyard. I'll need another 5 to 10 good opportunities to use it this way before I can decide. While the head is designed for weight (up to 25 lbs per the company) it is so light and compact that in the rare event I'll be using a tripod for an SLR or smaller camera I expect to be perfectly happy with this vs either of the 3-way heads I have been using until now.
