With two batteries installed, your shooting time is effectively doubled. Moreover, when one battery is drained, it can be removed and recharged while you continue shooting with the other battery. The design of a battery grip offers a comfortable and secure way in which to hold your DSLR, especially in the vertical position. And the BG-C2.2 comes with an alternate shutter release button, AF start button, AF point selection, AE lock/FE lock button, multi-function button and main dial to facilitate shooting when held vertically. The BG-C2.2 features an anti-slip rubber grip to further improve handling, a tripod socket to mount your camera directly to a tripod and a wonderful touch: a holder for the camera's battery door so as not to lose it when the battery grip is installed.

BG-C2.2 Battery Grip for Canon 5D Mark II is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 53.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Yay! I really needed this thing and thank god it's affordable. I starting transitioning from shooting wedding photos to shooting wedding videos and one of the many differences between the two is that with video the batteries die much faster. This Battery grip was a necessary addition. It allowed me twice as much battery time and the fact that the batteries can be replaced in its side door rather than the bottom is great. Before I bought this, I'd have to take the camera off the tripod and off the rig to replace a battery which is time consuming and stressful at a wedding. This has saved me alot of time and stress so far, I hope it stays reliable!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cost effective, functional alternative. This is a great grip! I had another one from a different manufacturer that died a sudden death from a horrific drop from 5' feet to the asphalt. Can't fault the product in that case. Nonetheless, bought this to replace it and am happy with it. My old one had the battery door on the back, which couldn't open all the way with a QR plate installed. This one loads from the side and doesn't interfere with anything else. This one also has a better feel than my last one because of the tapered grip, the last one was very blocky. Anyway, if you need a grip for your 5D Mark II, this is a good one. Cheers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good for the price! I purchased this for my 5D MKII about a week ago and I'm very impressed. I was hesitant at first, going with a 'off market' grip on an expensive camera - but after some research, I decided to save $and go for it. I have noticed some differences in the Canon grip vs. the Vello brand (listed below). Overall, I would highly recommend the grip for someone on a tight budget. It's basically the same grip (see below for the differences) with all the same functionality, buttons and wheels. Obviously, the Vello grip doesn't meet/exceed the Canon grip, but it holds its own for $.PROS:- $ less than the Canon Grip- Solid build that feels sturdy enough for normal/moderate use- Has all functionality of the Canon grip (Battery info, AF/Point buttons, etc.)- Shutter button is different than the Canon, but still good (Pro & Con)- Comes with the back-up AA battery tray (takes 6 AA's)- Feels nice in your handsCONS:- Doesn't seem to have 'weather proofing' seals- Shutter button feels different than the Canon (Pro & Con)- Made of hard plastic/rubberDIFFERENT:- The battery slot is located on the side of the grip and is more of a 'cartridge style' (ie. you must slide the cartridge out to get to the batteries, unlike the Canon grip which has the 'door style' that opens from the back). This wasn't a pro or con for me, just something different that I wasn't expecting.- Due to this 'cartridge style', the eject button on the Canon grip was replaced with an On/Off button on the Vello grip. I would consider this a pro more than anything. It's a lot easier to turn the grip on & off (FYI: the grip does't need to be ON to use the batteries inside. This means when the grip is in the OFF position, you will have a fully functional camera except the buttons on the grip won't fire.)I think that about covers it. I would recommend it for anyone who's trying to save some money and can live without the word CANON on your grip. I would take into consideration the fact that it doesn't seem to be 'weather proof' and the durability may not be that of the Canon brand. But it really is a trade off, you can buy 3 of the Vello grips for less than 1 Canon grip but it's going to depend on your usage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Redesign I wanted to give this a 5star because it deserves it but just one little flaw held it back. The little clasp that closes the battery door, it a little too loose an feels like the little flap will start hanging down after some amount of use. It needed to be able to click into place and remain sturdy or be coin/thumb operated. apart from that tiny design flaw, ITS PERFECT! Fits so well on my camera, smooth feel and handles well. All buttons are in the perfect spot.. Like I said, 5star except that tiny flaw.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value I haven't used the product much yet, but seems like it will be perfect for my needs. I wasn't hesitant to purchase the off-brand because I don't expect tons and tons of usage like a wedding shooter or photojournalist might put it though. The fit and feel with the Markii are spot on. I saw some people complain about the feel of the shutter, but I really don't see that being an issue for me. It's slightly different, but not enough to affect me. It does though feels a little plasticy but unless dropped, the grip should hold up fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've found what I was looking for This one is so much cheaper than the canon original, but has the same quality. Batteries fit perfectly, both the Canon and AA size. On off switch can disconnect the buttons of grip. Actually buttons work perfectly.I use it everywhere, just keep on my camera. I would highly recommend this grip, it works perfectly and I have no issues with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised I was a bit skeptical about purchasing a non-Canon grip, but the worry was needless. It's quality made, and performs exactly like it's supposed to. When compared to the name brand grip I have long used on my old camera - you really can't tell the difference.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from More than met my expectations Not only does it allow you to continue to use your camera for an extending period of time by adding a second battery to the grip but you can use AA batteries as well using the included adapter. This is very useful if you deplete your two batteries and you do not have a third battery that is charged. Of course, this is dependent on you having AA batteries on hand as a backup power source. I love the flexibility it gives you in terms on how you can comfortably hold the camera. It always felt awkward and straining without it and now, I find myself taking a horizontal AND vertical of almost every shot without complaint. Power sequence must be in a particular order for the Canon camera to recognized the two batteries in the grip. Read the instructions. This definitely applied to my 5D Mark II.
