When trying to get the perfect shot, you often have various lighting accessories such as flags, scrims and cutters set up around your subject. A grip head holds each in a precise position, making it a fairly common piece of equipment on most any set.

Is anyone else experiencing sticking? I own two of these and they both are extremely difficult to loosen once tightened up. If you bang it on the ground a few times it works.

With the grip head grab a 5/8 pin?I want to grab a 5/8 pin 90 degrees from a 5/8 pin.
Asked by: William L.
Yes, it will grab a 5/8 pin and also allow to place the 2nd pin at 90 degrees from the first pin. However, there is no indent for user to snap to an exact 90 degrees relative angle. The device is robust (& heavy) and will allow any angle from 0 to 180 degrees relative to first pin. An aluminum friction washer really does a good job in preventing slippage after you set the angle. If you are planning to attach it to top of the 5/8 vertical pin on a light stand, please do ensure that vertical pin is long enough to give you enough land & stability. Better if you can the pin rather than the aluminum section of your stand.

Is this grip head supposed to be able to clamp securely to the top of a traditional light stand (i.e., not a C-stand)?
Asked by: Alan
Yes, it works on a light stand OR a C-stand.

will this work with a regular stand as opposed to just a c-stand? I read this: Wide compatibility with standard grip equipment; fits 5/8 baby-studs or stand top-studs and just wanted to double/triple check that this will fit the need I have.
Asked by: Jeremy
Studs are standardized...ie regular stands and cost and have the same stud.
