Impact CA-108 Overview

The Impact Swivel Umbrella Adapter is a sturdy, well thought out piece of grip equipment that allows you mount a light and umbrella on stands up to 5/8" diameter. The tilt handle is a ratcheting type that allows you to reposition it as you tighten it down- a very handy feature in restricted spaces.

Two reversible 5/8" threaded studs are included. One is a female 1/4"-20 to female 3/8" that can be used as a stand adapter and the other is a male 1/4"-20 to male 3/8"-16 that can be screwed into a flash with a female tap. The studs are tightened down with a large sliding T-handle while the swivel tightens onto the stand with a large knob. The Swivel Adaptor's umbrella receptacle will accept 7mm and 8mm umbrella shafts.

Bracket tilts and swivels to make aiming the light or flash easy.
Has a locking umbrella socket that will accept umbrella shafts up to 8mm diameter.

Was VERY disappointed in this product. All the "holes" seem to be oversized. Can't get a secure mount to light stand. The hole for umbrella is huge. When tightened down, there is so much extra space, your umbrella sags... thus losing your ability to have perpendicular light angle.

I am using the umbrella adapter to hold an 8 LED light at an angle Because of the notches on the two mating parts the angle joint won't loosen up or slip

This is the third one that I have purchased. They add a ton of versatility to setting up LED lighting fixtures and other gear.

The main issue is the tiny thumb screw that holders the umbrella in place. If you're using a small umbrella it might be ok, if you use anything even vaguely big at any other angle that the arm being horizontal, the screw tip simply can't be done up tight enough to hold the umbrella arm in place and thus the umbrella will slip through. Honestly, I think 1 star is a good rating. If you wanted to hold the light further away from the stand or at an angle and don't mind it rotating buy this. If you want to mount an umbrella and want either the light or the umbrella to stay put, don't!

We use this for many things but most notably for holding a light. It allows us to angle our light source more effectively. The construction is solid and it is easy to use

These are great. Why? Because they're simple, mechanical items that work. I've never had one fail on me. They're made tough. I use strobes and umbrellas on them and they get the job done. I still have the first one I ever bought. There are more expensive options, but I haven't found the need or reason to spend more. Great product.

This umbrella adapter has click-stops when adjusting the tilt. Manfrotto's 026 is infinitely adjustable. I find that the few degrees of difference in the click-stops make the aim of the light less controliable--especially if the light is rather close to the subject.

Yes I believe it is. This swivel crank arm gives you more leverage when tightening. Also like the vise style tightener at the top. Can make half turns if something is in the way on top. Go with the 026.
