FUJIFILM XF 35mm f/1.4 R Reviews

My top 3 favorite Fujifilm lens

The photos I get out of this lens are AMAZING and lives up to its legendary reputation of how it renders images. I honestly don't see the point of upgrading to the new 33mm f1.4 for slightly better corner sharpness wide open and slightly better af. The past reviews speaks volumes about his lens.

Old school, compact size rocks!

I own the 23mm and 35mm f2 Fujicrons, but I wanted to experience the magic sauce of the 35mm f1.4. It did not disappoint. Most of all, I much prefer the small form factor of all three lenses compared to the heavier and bulkier new Fuji lenses. Especially for travel and street photography, less is more.

Great Lens

This lens is fairly new to me, but I am so pleased to have it. I am getting very sharp, clear photos that have the special Fujifilm look typical of photos I was taking years ago. It is a challenge to describe, but the photos have a bit of magic in them. Now, I have to keep working on the proper bokeh effect for different background and light situations. This lens is highly recommended, and far superior to the "newer" Fuji lens I traded in to get it.

Amazing lens for it's age.

I absolutely love this lens. The image quality of the Fuji 35mm f1.4 can be summed up in one word; Magical. The photos I produce from this lens are fantastic. The color rendering, the sharpness, the bokeh; the image quality is just amazing. With that being said, there are an issue with this lens. The focus motor is slow, clunky, and loud. I do not recommend this lens for video. For stills though, this lens is amazing.

I should have bought it years ago

This lens is sort of glued to my X-T3. I did you use it and only it to photograph an event. The results were excellent. Most of the criticisms I've read and heard I am not aware of. The aperture ring is fine. The lens only hunts occasionally. It is not particularly noisy. It is not as fast focussing as my 35mm f2. The lens is okay on my Pro 1. Better on my Pro 2. Excellent on my X-T3. In conclusion: Money well and wisely spent.

Close to perfection

I'm very happy with this lens. A few days after I got the lens I mounted it on the 11mm extension tube. My testing results were excellent. Today, five days after it was delivered I used it to photograph an event. The camera was a Fuji X-T3. It, the lens, did everything I wanted it to do. I used flash for some photos and existing light for others. Using f1.4 was a real pleasure. The bokeh was beautiful. I had focus confirmation on the camera turned off and could not hear the lens focusing. (It was not noisy.). It did not hunt. All I got from the lens was fantastic results. In 50 years of photography this lens is a close to perfection as I've ever had.

Been on the ride with Fuji X since 2014. Tests good, stop down to f1.8 and ALL issues disappear. No hot spot for infrared is a real plus for me. The newer 33mm is better, but twice as big, heavier. Cheap on the used market.
