    FiiO E17 Reviews

E17 USB DAC Headphone Amplifier is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little device I bought this for use at work and in the car. The sound card on my work PC is pretty terrible. This little device boosts up the quality and volume quite nice. It also seems to work well with in my car. The amp in the my iPhone appears to be pretty weak so when I plug it into my car stereo the sound is pretty weak. Again this device helps with that quite a bit. Though I'm not sure how long the battery life will last while outputting enough volume for a car stereo. It seems to work fairly well for short trips so far. I have yet to try it on a longer drive. I've also heard from other sources that to really get the best out of this device you should have higher quality headphones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice packaging, crystal clear sound I have used the E17 with headphones, including dual headphones, powered speakers and un-powered speakers, desktop computers and a laptop. Sound quality is very high. Everything sounds better through the E17 compared to on-board audio, especially music. No discussion in directions about fact that you need to install a driver to use with a computer. Driver is hard to find on website and directions are ambiguous. However, actual installation is easy. Same driver installer works with XP, 7, 8, and 8.1. If you change the USB port you may have to re-install the driver. Takes a few seconds. Worried about what happens when battery goes bad. Case screws are torqued real tight. That may frustrate replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional DAC/Amp value. This is an amazing DAC/Amplifier for the money. Its feature set, sound quality, and inputs make it a leader in its price range. Obviously, it fills its role well in any rig ranging from home audio to portables, but the main hook is its USB port and ability to be used in a PC/Mac rig. To find this functionality elsewhere would require you to double your budget. I am currently using it with my PC rig, paired with HD580, MS1(000), and ER-4 headphones. For budget audiophiles who will make use of the USB or optical inputs, this an easy choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice addition to mobile audio experience I've really enjoyed how this DAC/Amp has improved my mobile audio experience. I listen while traveling (airplanes, hotels) The quality improvement is noticeable. You'll hear some things you didn't hear before, it might be a little guitar part in the backgroud or a smoother decay of a snare or piano note. It took about 10 songs to get the gain and bass and treble and such adjusted, but it's worth it. If you have good headphones (I have an ipod with the big connector so I bypass the ipod's DAC) you'll enjoy the improvement

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing for the price You can't do better for the price. Sounds very good driving my Shure SRH 840 phones. USB DAC also sounds very good and optical input is a BIG plus. Be aware that the E17 won't accept USB digital audio from an iPad since the DAC must draw some power from the USB port. Otherwise, a real gem!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantasic portable DAC/Amp Blows away built-in laptop sound hardware - drives even demanding high end headphones. Perfect for travel. Remains very transparent - really lets you enjoy the music. One of the best values out there as to portable DAC/Amp units that doesn't sacrifice performance at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice DAC This is my second Fiios E17 DAC. The sound is amazing for the size and price. Turns your lap top or ipod into a whole different aural experience. Mainly good for higher end headphones. I had a pair of Grado's which sounded tinty with no bass when I plugged them into my laptop on Youtube or Itunes. After adding the DAC it is a rich colorful 3 dimensional sound. Basically the DAC bypasses the computer sound processing and runs it through its own processor before amplifying. Its a world difference. Is is very small, sleek and solid in design. The only drawback is the earphone jack which was rather flimsy and lost contacts after a few months. I contacted Fiios and they offered to replace it but * actually beat them to it. Apparently the jack issue has been addressed. Anyway, there are lots of DACs out there but for price this one seems to stand out. Check out the reviews online.
