The ShutterBoss II Timer Remote Switch for Nikon with 10-Pin Connection from Vello is a remote shutter release that provides photographers with enhanced levels of exposure control. Featuring specialized functionality such as continuous shooting, self-timer, long time exposures, and interval shooting, the ShutterBoss II is a huge asset to keep in your camera bag. This particular ShutterBoss is compatible with cameras that have a 10-pin connection, including Nikon D6, D5, D4, and D800 series.

With the ShutterBoss you can set timer delays, exposure times, and intervals up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds in one-second increments. You can also select from 1 to 399 continuous shots or set the device to take an unlimited number of photos. Since you can set exposures without touching the camera you will capture clear, blur-free images. This remote has a 4-line backlit LCD status display for easy viewing of timer and exposure settings. The backlight can be locked to remain on when shooting in low light conditions.

The ShutterBoss is great for time-lapse series of blooming flowers, sunsets, or the night sky. It can also function as a simple manual remote shutter release. Simply establish the camera's settings and push the remote's shutter button halfway to focus and fully to shoot. In bulb mode, slide the shutter release button forward to lock and the shutter will stay open until you release it.

The ShutterBoss II has added two features that will offer easier control over the remote's settings. First is a power off option which gives you the ability to power down the remote to conserve battery life. Second is a reset option that allows the ShutterBoss settings to be reset to default settings with just the hold of two buttons. A default reset is a time-saver when you want to avoid changing each setting individually.

Whether it's for simple shutter release, extended self-timer options, continuous shooting, long exposures, or time-lapse shooting, the ShutterBoss II Remote puts creative camera control in the palm of your hand.

Audible Beep
The ShutterBoss will give you an audible beep for the last three seconds of a countdown delay or interval. It will also beep to confirm your settings. The beep can be turned off if necessary.

I bought this timer for use with my Canon Ra for astrophotography. Normally i take multiple long exposures and then stack them. It works well and it is accurate. I have had it only for a few weeks now, that is why i give 4 stars, as i still have to check its endurance. Very pleased so far. Setting exposure times and intervals is very easy.

Complete garbage, do not buy.

I'd give this 0 stars if I could. Mine has never worked right. The manual shutter release does not work at all. It just beeps constantly, the timer will not stop! Instructions are a joke too.

Does exactly what I need as I am going to experiment with long exposures.

Top Quality Wired Multi-Function Remote

When Nikon dropped the 10 pin connector for the DC2 connector on certain newer Nikon bodies like my Df, they apparently didn't offer a wired remote like the Nikon MC-20 I used for years with my F4 and DX2. Luckily, I found the Vello Shutterboss II, and it is an excellent replacement. I've only used the Vello Shutterboss for long timed exposures, and it works flawlessly. I do wish it used a button battery instead of two AAA batteries, so I remove the batteries when I won't be using the Shutterboss for long periods of time to avoid possible damage due to leakage.

This is the version for mirrorless Canon. Seems to work just as well as the DSLR version I owned previously. I gave the earlier one to a friend and she very quickly was able to operate it as desired. I take that as a confirmation that the ShutterBoss is intuitively obvious to run. At night I want the ShutterBoss close to my camera and easy to see/find. Here's a little hack I've developed. I purchased a pack of the Niteize rubber twist ties (in the yellow-glow color). I use one twist tie to coil the cable so it extends only 9 inches from device to its connector. I form the second twist tie into a S-hook with one side hooked to cable coil on the bundled cable loops and the other on the camera body's strap (sans neck strap). The result is that the ShutterBoss hangs close to the camera and is easily reached when needed, but does not disturb the lens/body during long exposures.

Doing its job

In testing it works as advertised. I hope to get out in the next few days and use it for taking some Milky Way images. Just need Mother Nature to cooperate and clear the night sky.

question

HiWill it work with Nikon D750?Thanks
Asked by: P W.
Yes, I use it on my NIkon D750. Not the 10 pin connector but the DC2 connector supplied with ShutterBoss II Timer. Page 373 in the manual describes how to use remote video. In the Custom Setting g-Movie - g4 Record Movies g4: Assign Shutter Button == MENU button - Custom Settings menu ===Text Copied for the Nikon D750 manual=== Choose the role played by pressing the shutter-release button when (movie symbol) is selected with the live view selector. Option Description - Take photos Press the shutter-release button all the way down to end movie recording and take a photograph with an aspect ratio of 16:9 (for information on image size, see page 77). Option Record movies Press the shutter-release button halfway to start movie live view. You can then press the shutter- release button halfway to focus (autofocus mode only) and press it all the way down to start or end recording. The shutter-release button can not be used for other purposes during movie live view. To end movie live view, press the LV button. The shutter-release button on an optional wireless remote controller or remote cord (lj 443,444) functions in the same way as the camera shutter- release button; the optional ML-L3 remote control, however, can not be used to record movies; the shutter-release button on the ML-L3 has no effect. --- Programing the shutter release button to work with movies (videos) when in live view and the "Live View" selector is set to "Movie Live View". The Shutterboss II works perfectly. You can even set the Shutterboss II to start the movie after a specified interval, as indicated in the Shutterboss II manual.
