What, How, Where? Not With iOS

Be sure and look carefully at this items photos carefully and do not purchase one based on the product description. This claims to work with iOS devices such as an iPhone or iPad, I’ve had several of both and NONE have ever had any 1/8” input headphone or other jack. So if you’re psyched to be using your guitar and iPhone with Mobile Pod or the like FORGET IT. What a disappointment after reading the description and thinking it was the answer for mobile recording with my iPhone or iPad. This the manufacturers fault not B&H’s. How can iK continue to box this with printing saying it works with iOS devices. That could only be possible if it provided a stereo 1/8” to standard iPhone FireWire input jack. Sounds as if it’s a great guitar/iPhone device when it could only plugin to an Android. We’ve been an A/V Production Company for over 30yrs and NEVER have come across such misleading advertising and packaging. IF there’s an iOS device with an 1/8” jack - please let us in on it because lacking one has always been a fault. If I’m wrong I apologize, so far I’ve heard nothing from iK since reporting this several days ago.

The production I'm working on has been using the irig to patch audio from the mixer to a laptop or phone (with additional cables). Very helpful since producers and directors are working remotely for some shoots.

Interface worked well with connecting our dynamic mic to an Ipad for live streaming. Highly recommend it for people using a Mevo camera and Ipad software.

This device is perfect for my needs as a Yoga instructor teaching online from home. It's simple and does the job well. And it's easy to set up.

Handy interface

This is a great interface to get an XLR mic into a smartphone as well as to get audio from the caller. I've used this for ENG to record news conferences, interviews, etc. and have also used this as a quick solution as a phone interface by routing the headphone output into a mixer. The fixed cable is a decent length; other interfaces are often only three or four inches. Phantom power is a plus.

Works as advertised

This is a device that connects your XLR microphone to a device that accepts TRRS input (e.g. phone, tablet, modern computers, etc.). It provides phantom power, has a headphone jack, and has a dial to control gain. I'm sure that a dedicated interface would bring out more nuanced sound, but you can't beat the price, mobility, and ease of use if all you want is to connect an XLR microphone to any device.

Use Pro Microhone With Your Cell Phone

The iRig Pre is what you should use to connect a pro Sennheiser microphone into your cell phone for a radio interview. Never use the built in microphone in a cell phone. If your cell phone only has the Lightning input, B & H sells an Apple Lightning To Headphone Adapter. ACN Radio Network

No. This pre-amp works on iOS devices. If you're using an XLR microphone, you'll need an XLR to USB interface like the one referenced below. The price point is similar to the IRig Pre. There are others at higher prices, but I think the Polsen XLR-USB-48 will work for you needs. Good Luck Polsen XLR-USB-48 XLR to USB Audio Interface - BH #POXLRUSB48 • MFR #XLR-USB-48

I use the iRig for transcription with my Android phone - BUT it only works when the iRig is in the OFF position. Go figure, I don't know. The Irig was made for the iPhone, period.

Yes, this is certainly possible. We offer the iLine series if you need an adapter. The mono output splitter is the route I would suggest. Read more here: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/iline/

question

Is the sound quality good with DSLRs ? I'd like to use this with running and gunning on-the-go with a shotgun mic and not have to sync audio in post. Thanks, Ef
Asked by: Efrem D.
I have not yet used the iRig Pre attached to a DSLR for motion recording, so I can't say. The sound quality is very good, used mostly for wireless lav-mics in a Trade Show environment for longer shots of a spokesperson. There is usually a lot of ambient noise around and shooting on my iPad Mini - with a wireless Lav mic attached to the spokesperson and into the mic - produced very good sound quality.

This could work. Use this cable. A headphone into a LINE input may a bit "hot".

While the IK Multimedia iRig Pre 2 is connected to your smartphone, you would be able to head audio from the headphone output jack on the iRig Pre 2.
