Magnus VT-300 Overview

The Magnus VT-300 Video Tripod with Fluid Head is a lightweight and portable tripod system for shooting stable videos with DSLRs, small camcorders, and any other cameras up to 15 lb.

A built-in fluid effect video head pans a full 360°, tilts up and down, and features independent pan and tilt locks for fixed-position shots. A pan bar and a snap-in quick release camera plate are included. The quick release plate features a 1/4"-20 camera mounting screw, a registration pin, and an anti-skid mounting surface.

A center column raises or lowers at the turn of a hand crank to let you fine-tune a height without adjusting the tripod legs. A mid-level spreader keeps the legs steady when you adjust the tripod, and it locks to keep the legs secure once you've set the tripod in position. Both the center column and spreader are integrated. The maximum height of the tripod with the center column raised is 64.3".

The tripod legs extend at two leg stages at the release of flip-locks. The legs feature replaceable rubber feet that provide grip on hard or slippery surfaces. An internal bubble level will help you position the tripod evenly on uneven ground. A carry case with a shoulder strap is included and will let you conveniently carry the tripod over your shoulder when you're travelling about.

Great!

I used that tripod on a sloping ground full of holes and mounds and it was sturdy and easy to use. I managed to film panning on a bridge, tilting up and down for objects. The video look very good. Finally, it's very light, so you can bring it anywhere without breaking your back. Great product!

A sturdy tripod for on the go shooting. The nice tripod I want seem ridiculously pricey for what they are. I understand having versatility with the tripod heads but if you are soles using for on site interviews or talking heads infront of a background these are a great lower price option. Bought two to be able to have ease with tripod shoes and two camera shoots. The travel case is great too.

This tripod fits seamlessly with my Vortex Viper spotting scope. I love that it clicks into place and release simply when that's appropriate. My purpose is birding, ducks and water birds particularly, and I am extremely pleased with the stability, the ease of use, the relatively light weight. It is perfect for my purposes.

I got this tripod and was excited about it. I was closing it on the 3rd use and one of the supports for one of the legs snapped off. Pretty disappointed.

Magnus VT-300 Camera/Video Tripod

I own two of the Magnus VT-300's. They are used for video of water polo matches. The unit sets up quickly and collapses as quick. Even though the legs are plastic they hold up well. I would suggest purchasing the plastic/cork camera/video head if you are using more than one device with this tripod. I've had more than one water polo ball hit the tripod yet the legs hold firm.

Smooth Video movement

Being a coach, I wanted a tripod to film our football games that would provide easy panning and movement of the camera. And, not having a huge budget, it needed to be cost effective. This tripod is easy to set up and use, is smooth to operate and I'm completely pleased with my purchase. It greatly increased the quality of our football film.

Mine leaks sticky fluid after 3 years

This was a great purchase back in spring of 2020 for me. Seemed like a great value at the time. Nice smooth action for video. I did not use this tripod heavily. Fast forward to summer 2023: I discovered a sticky substance leaking out around the edges of the tripod head. At first I thought something had spilled on it, but after carefully cleaning it, it came back - and I could see it was oozing around the head joints. Yes, Magnus you get one star because a lightly used tripod should last longer than 3 years.

Does this tripod work with the Sony aii?
Asked by: BK
I’m sure that it will. I have a GH-4 and it works well with that camera. The plate does not allow you to move the camera forward or back to balance the camera but even so, I like the tripod. It’s inexpensive and light but I like the action on the head in tilting and panning.

question

Magnus VT300 says it will support 15lbs. I have a VT4000 that is much sturdier and it says it supports up to 8.8lbs. What is the difference?
Asked by: Allison
According to the makers of the tripods: The difference is the counterbalance on the VT-4000, vs failure weight on the VT-300.So the VT-4000 will counterbalance a camera load of 8.8 lbs without assistance. The VT-300 has no such spring, but will securely hold 15lbs in position with the locks engaged without any slipping.

Can I use quick release plate on this tripod on Zhiyun Crane Gimbal?

It appears that the style of quick release plate included with this tripod will not work with the Zhiyun Crane Gimbal. However, you can use a Manfrotto 323 style of quick release plate with the Zhiyun Crane, as linked here: https://bhpho.to/3pI0xY8
