Dual Electronics XGPS150A Overview

  • 1Description

Take your iPad, iPod touch, iPhone, or any other Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet or laptop -- and use it with the XGPS150 Universal Bluetooth GPS Receiver from Dual Electronics. This receiver is designed to provide location information to pretty much any app that requests it, adding new functions to your devices.

First off, the XGPS150 is easy to use. After the setup process which includes pairing your device with the receiver, it will automatically connect to the device it was last paired with. The receiver works with the GPS Status Tool app, a free app from the iTunes store designed to be used with the XGPS150. The app allows you to see critical stats like your location, number of close-by satellites and their signal strength, and battery level of the receiver.

This device is intended for use in a variety of applications. It includes a non-slip pad for use in a car or on a boat. While the receiver isn't fully waterproof, it can handle light splashes while sealed inside the non-slip pad. It comes with a two-piece armband that's perfect for hiking, geocaching, jogging, cycling and other outdoor activities. Moreover, the armband can be used without the extension to secure to the strap or a backpack or handlebar for added placement flexibility.

And perhaps most important to frequent adventurers: the receiver is small and lightweight for maximum portability.

    Dual Electronics XGPS150A Reviews

XGPS150 Universal Bluetooth GPS Receiver is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best GPS Antenna This little gem will beat a Garmin every time, Don't misunderstand, I like Garmin, I own 4 and none of them will lock on in a metal roofed building, But the Dual will and very quickly. Wrist strap leaves a bit to be desired but a hook and loop strap aftermarket will do nicely. The dash mount is great but I find wearing on the wrists gets a lot of questions ( my favorite answer is Prison tracking device ) Mine is used with Apple iPod touch 4th gen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for airliners! I am using it as backup in an Airbus 330, it needs to be located at the small window on door 1L or 1R, red part facing the window on the provided rubber holder. It works fine, gives in less than 2 minutes accurate dates. The only problem comes not from the device, but from iOS navigation APPs that sometimes doesn't find the data provided by the external gps

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but fragile This is my second unit - first is in a hotel lost and found somewhere in Wyoming. I had planned to use this with both an Ipad and a Windows laptop which requires changing a little switch. The second time I switched it, the switch disappeared. Not sure where it went. Works great otherwise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent device This product turns your iPad mini etc into a satnav. Awesome. Works with many car, marine and aviation products. Simple to use. The first one was so good(lost or stolen) I bought another. I use it with TomTom and Navionics. Great product and service from B&H

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT GPS - YOU WILL NEED A DATA PLAN GREAT GPS - YOU WILL NEED A DATA PLAN For turn by turn mapping Yes, it will work with the ipod Touch, but you need a data plan and the Touch does not have that option. I am using a Virgin Mobile Hotspot with it for turn by turn. Same with any WiFi only device. Ipad's with Cell data will work Of course Iphones work It does a GREAT job of connecting to the Satelites.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works with iPad Wi-Fi only This works fine with WiFi only iPads. You just need to download maps before you leave a WiFi zone. TomTom navigation is excellent and apps such as Outdoors America or Outdoors GB and Parks provide very high quality mapping. You may be able to use it with Google Maps if you can download the area you need prior to departing your WiFi environment.
