Sensei LHSC-52 overview

  • 1Description

The 52mm Screw-on Tulip Lens Hood from Sensei mounts onto your camera lens to prevent glare and lens flare by blocking out stray light. The lens hood also adds shock absorption to help protect your lens from impact damage. It easily screws onto any lens with a 52mm diameter and includes a locking collar for consistent positioning. As this lens hood can be used with lenses of varying focal lengths, its tulip shape is designed to prevent vignetting while still blocking unwanted light from entering your lens. The hood is ideal for full-frame lenses with focal lengths longer than 20mm, and APS-C lenses with focal lengths longer than 15mm.

    Sensei LHSC-52 reviews

52mm Screw-on Tulip Lens Hood is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not Fit Did not fit over my 52mm filter--So I can't use it. It was cheap and now I know why.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does the job, sort of I found the hood a bit difficult to screw on to my lens. It is a two-part luer-style connection, but you need to have the central section just right to secure the hood while allowing motion. I had issues with vignetting at the widest angle of my lens (15mm). You have to double check the position of the hood to be sure it isn't in the way after changing the zoom, but I'm getting used to it. It does the job, sort of, but it's not a nice as a lens-specific hood.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good and OK It does work, but it's viability will depend on the lens it is being used on. It works fine on my primes, but on the kit lens that came with my camera it isn't too useful, as the lens rotates when being focused. For the price, it's good, but if you want something more durable, be prepared to spend a bit more. The threading on it is plastic, so I don't foresee this lasting forever. But, at this price, what is to be expected?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost right I bought this lens hood for my Panasonic Lumix fZ 200 because sadly I lost the hood that comes with it and finding the original was impossible. I like the way it fits on the end of the lens, but not the way it prevents me from then attaching my lens cap. So, basically I have to have on one or the other. Also, there is vignetting at the corners when the lens is at its widest angle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOrks on Pentax SMC 50mm f/1.8 I bought this for my 50 mm lens, mostly to reduce flare, but to protect it. Once you install it (threads onto the inside of the lens ring) you cannot use the protective lens cap. Other than that, it doesn't vignette or cause any optical issues. Wish they made this so that the lens cap could clip onto the inside of the hood, then this would be awesome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Pentax 50 f1.8 lens! Great for the cheapy Pentax 50 f1.8 lens since it doesn't come with a hood. Cheap hood option for a nice cheap lens. Screw into the filter ring on the Pentax lens, I don't use a filter on such a cheap lens anyway. Only hassle is lens cap cannot go back on with hood on so when storing I remove the hood. Otherwise a great tool!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Protection from drops and falls I picked up a nicely used Sigma 24mm ultra wide angle f/2.8 lens for my Pentax K-5iis but it didn't come with the lens hood. This is a screw on and once you get it on the lens, it's not coming off period. Just takes a little time to screw it on properly so it's in the proper position.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work with 35 mm Youngnuo This lens hood was recommended when I purchased the Youngnuo 35 mm f/2 lens. It does fit the lens, but the lens cap then won't attach to the hood. I chatted with a B&H rep, and she stated that you need a 49 mm lens cap (sold separately) if you choose to use this lens hood.
