The 77mm Screw-on Tulip Lens Hood from Sensei mounts onto your camera lens to prevent glare and lens flare by blocking out stray light. The lens hood also adds shock absorption to help protect your lens from impact damage. It easily screws onto any lens with a 77mm diameter and includes a locking collar for consistent positioning. As this lens hood can be used with lenses of varying focal lengths, its tulip shape is designed to prevent vignetting while still blocking unwanted light from entering your lens. The hood is ideal for full-frame lenses with focal lengths longer than 20mm, and APS-C lenses with focal lengths longer than 15mm.

77mm Screw-on Tulip Lens Hood is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great accessory for the price This lens hood threads on, so it isn't as convenient as most. I use it for my Canon 20-35mm lens, and the edges show using it wide open at 20mm on my full-frame camera. The edges of the lens hood were not visible when I zoomed to 24mm though. If you thread it on over a circular polarizer, be aware of the position of the hood before your shot. I don't use it often, but when needed, it's worth the price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as the Nikon :( It does prevent flare. BUT... 1) It won't mount w/ a CP filter in place. 2) You can't put it on the lens backwards for ease of storage. 3) You can't put it on w/ a cap in place. So you're stuck w/ either buying a hugely overpriced Nikon hood, or losing a good deal of the functionality. Yeah, sure, I like buying a generic item that costs 1/11 the cost of the Nikon version- but in this case, it means a $2k lens + $200 CP filter don't produce as good image quality. Sensei makes other great products, so I'm guessing that Nikon intentionally designs their lens so that generic hoods can't be used on them. This way they can really gouge you on their replacement hoods. Just 1 more reason to buy a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 instead of a Nikkor... the question is no longer Why, Nikon? but, Why Nikon?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reducing lens flare in IR photography So I have a lens that uses a bayonet mount for the OEM hood and has 67 mm filter thread. Additionally, I have an IR filter that I use on this lens, at 77mm (so I can use it on all of my lenses); screws on with an adapter ring. Guess what? You can't use the OEM hood in this situation! As you know, it is a serious money saver to buy filters sized for the largest thread size lens you own, and adapt those to all of your other smaller lenses. This screw on Hood works on ALL of my 77mm filters used in this fashion. What I call a WIN situation!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great for a 3rd Party Accessory Like any photo fan I silently cried when I lost my original lens hood for the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8.The original one is $ and snap on type that can be lost so easily. I like this Sensei as it is screw type so odds of it getting lost is low but hey if I loose it I won't cry for $ bucks. You just have to read the instructions so you avoid vignetting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Perfect fit on my very old Mamiya 645, 45mm lens. Kind of wish the material was either aluminum or some type of metal. Flower petal hoods are nice. However, when you try to remove it from the lens, one gets the feeling that it will collapse in your hand because it is hard plastic and not metal. However, still very nice and only time will tell. Otherwise, worth the price and really gives my camera a professional look and performance.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works but....not so conveniently Using it because the original lens hood that came with the 77mm 28 to 70mm lens broke. The screw on feature is not as flexible as the Zeiss lens hood that came with the lens. It doesn't store as well as the original which just turned around and sat inverted on the lens when not in use. Therefore, it is much less convenient. I will only use it when absolutely necessary.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I would not buy this product again This product did fit my lens snugly which was what I was looking for. However, I could not add a filter. If I attached the filter under the lens hood, I not only got vignetting, but I could not turn my filter without turning the lens hood. Now the tulip design of the lens hood causes devastating vignetting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens hood. I was looking for a lens hood for an old tokina 28-70 f2.8 and this turned out to be prefect. It shades the lens nicely without causing dark corners. One really nice feature is this hood is stepped down in the front to accept a 77mm lens cap, very convinient design. A+++
