Grip has a solid good feel to it. It gives the D800 that rugged feel of the D5.

A Boat Anchor

It makes the camera too bulky and adds alot of weight. It is only good for the EN-EL18 battery. To use this with the EN-EL15, I wouldn't. It is easier just to swap batteries in the camera. This was included with the camera at no cost.

I would be happy to buy this product again

These Nikon Multi Power Pack grips are invaluable, not just because I never run out of power! The ability to shoot vertical images yet have the important camera control buttons at your fingertips on the Multi Power Grip is essential for action photography during wildlife shoots on safari.

Better than third party.

After trying a knock off battery grip that killed my menu and image preview (On or Off, with or without batteries) I bought the Nikon. A difference in quality is immediately evident upon unboxing it (feel, weight). The buttons have the same feel as the camera's counterparts, and the grip functions flawlessly. No going back for me!

This battery pack came with my recent D810 purchase. I first thought it would be too bulky and heavy but after using it some, I havent taken it off. I really like the extra grip it provides and I havent even noticed the weight difference.

Dont buy third party!

After reading horror stories of problems with third party grips, I bought this despite the cost. I was pleasantly surprised that when I added my D4s EN-EL18 battery that the autofocus seemed noticeably faster. Also the frames per second were definitely faster in DX mode. I highly recommend that you also buy an EN-EL18 battery and a Wasabi charger for the battery as the Nikon one cost $400. I have a Nikon charger as I use two D4s bodies, but I also have a Wasabi charger and it works great. Just dont skimp on the battery itself. Dont trust third party grips or batteries as its not worth shorting out the camera!

Does this used model have the bl-5(for en-el18), the AA and the en-el15 holder with it?

Those items are for the Nikon D850 and this MB-D12 doesn't work with the D850. You would need this Nikon MB-D18 Multi-Power Battery Pack with Battery Kit for that. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1515713-REG/nikon_mb_d18_multi_power_battery_pack.html

question

I have seen the non-Nikon version of this grip with the D4 battery. The photographer said it works fine. Can this grip do the same?
Asked by: Anonymous
You can use the EN-EL18 battery in the MB-12 battery grip. You would need the BL-15 Battery Chamber Cover (B&H # NIBL5), though, in order to use that battery in the MB-12.

question

Is this a USA version or Import ? Maybe it says, but I could not see it. Thank you.
Asked by: Anonymous
Every time you call BH sales. The sales always tells you they get everything from Nikon. It is NOT true. After 2 replacements, now the customer service, L**y, admitted they were not from Nikon. Thus it is a gray market product. The is fraud!

question

what is the weight?
Asked by: Anonymous
I could not find an official spec on the weight of the MB-D12 grip, but our shipping weight is listed at 1.20 lbs (with packaging and instructions included). A conservative estimate would allow for 1lb or a little less, for the grip itself.

question

Is this grip metal or plastic? Does it include a tripod socket?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Nikon MB-D!@ is very well made. The materials used are not specified. The outside of it is metal and rubber and it is reinforced very well and very solid. There is a standard 1/4-20 tripod socket on the bottom.
