Dedicated to the Nikon D810, D810a, D800, and D800E DSLRs, the MB-D12 Multi Power Battery Pack offers both enhanced handling capabilities as well as extended battery life while shooting. It accepts one additional EN-EL15 lithium-ion battery pack to increase the camera's battery life or, alternatively, eight AA batteries can be used in conjunction with the included MS-D12 AA Battery Holder. The design of the grip improves shooting in the vertical orientation and also provides an overall more ergonomic structure for holding the camera. An additional shutter release button, AE/AF lock button, multi selector, and main- and sub-command dials are all incorporated into the grip's design to benefit more natural and intuitive handling.

Grip has a solid good feel to it. It gives the D800 that rugged feel of the D5.

It makes the camera too bulky and adds alot of weight. It is only good for the EN-EL18 battery. To use this with the EN-EL15, I wouldn't. It is easier just to swap batteries in the camera. This was included with the camera at no cost.

Does this used model have the bl-5(for en-el18), the AA and the en-el15 holder with it?
Those items are for the Nikon D850 and this MB-D12 doesn't work with the D850. You would need this Nikon MB-D18 Multi-Power Battery Pack with Battery Kit for that. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1515713-REG/nikon_mb_d18_multi_power_battery_pack.html

question
I have seen the non-Nikon version of this grip with the D4 battery. The photographer said it works fine. Can this grip do the same?
You can use the EN-EL18 battery in the MB-12 battery grip. You would need the BL-15 Battery Chamber Cover (B&H # NIBL5), though, in order to use that battery in the MB-12.

question
Is the MB-D12 available as a Grey Market or Import item?
The MB-D12 is available as a Nikon USA item only.

question
Is this a USA version or Import ? Maybe it says, but I could not see it. Thank you.
Every time you call BH sales. The sales always tells you they get everything from Nikon. It is NOT true. After 2 replacements, now the customer service, L**y, admitted they were not from Nikon. Thus it is a gray market product. The is fraud!

question
what is the weight?
I could not find an official spec on the weight of the MB-D12 grip, but our shipping weight is listed at 1.20 lbs (with packaging and instructions included). A conservative estimate would allow for 1lb or a little less, for the grip itself.

question
Is this grip metal or plastic? Does it include a tripod socket?
The Nikon MB-D!@ is very well made. The materials used are not specified. The outside of it is metal and rubber and it is reinforced very well and very solid. There is a standard 1/4-20 tripod socket on the bottom.
