Celestron 71189-B overview

  • 1Description

The 7x50 Oceana Porro WP IF and RC Military / Camouflage from Celestron is a waterproof binocular designed for marine use with rubber covering and nitrogen purged for all weather protection. An illuminated compass for direction finding, a reticle for distance measurement, a calculator dial for quick distance measurement and a convenient center focus system make this a very practical binocular.

BAK-4 prisms and fully multi-coated optics provide ultra sharp images with high contrast and resolution. The internal reticle can be used to calculate the view angle, the horizontal view angle, the vertical view angle and the distance. The reticle uses 10 mils for each number. It consists of a vertical and horizontal scale intersecting above the compass degree scale. A calculator dial for quick distance measurement is located at the end of the left objective tube. Used in tandem with the reticle the distance to an object is determined quickly and easily. This binocular has an aluminum body and is fitted with a threaded mount for use with a tripod.

    Celestron 71189-B reviews

7x50 Oceana Porro WP IF and RC Military / Camouflage is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the Money I decided to get this model because of the Celestron brand name hoping that the optics would be good quality. Fortunately I was right. These are great binoculars. The image is crisp and the housing is sturdy and strong. The compass is accurate and smooth. For the cost, these are the best binoculars you can buy. I searched the web for price and B&H had the best price. Plus, I felt more secure getting them from B&H rather than a no name on @.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice binoculars, shame about the compass I bought these because I figured (after some internet research) that they'd likely give me the best optical performance for the price in a 7x50 binocular. They were bought for bird watching and general use, not boating or other navigational purposes, so I didn't really need the compass, distance scale etc. but thought they might be something of an added bonus. They do provide a good, very clear, view. Shame about the compass though: it sticks, requires repeated tapping to move, and is generally as useful as a hip pocket on a singlet. This may be a northern hemisphere / southern hemisphere thing (different tilt on the compass) or may just be poor manufacture. Either way, the compass is a more irritating intrusion in my field of view than it otherwise might be if it worked properly (though I'm sure I'll learn to ignore it).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent buy An excellent option of prismatic, they are not of premium quality, in my personal opinion I am sarisfecho, ... the objective to determine height and length is fixed so you must lift little to adjust it in a vertical line.
