The diaphragm is made up of 11-blades and is as round as can be, and along with the fast aperture it can produce impressive bokeh and beautiful circular highlights. The CN-E 50 was released with two complementary relatives, the CN-E 24mm and CN-E 85mm. All three lenses share the same front diameter, form factor, optical design, placement of gear rings, and mechanical construction. Because of the identical characteristics, one lens can be swapped with another easily, even when geared accessories are involved.
Easy to Read, Easy to Use
Intended for the working professional, the EF Cinema Prime CN-E50mm T1.3 L F lens has markings on angled surfaces on both sides of the precise, 300° rotatable barrel, making it easy to read focus and aperture settings from behind or either side of the camera. Focus markings can be switched from standard labeling to metric. The control rings are engineered to maintain the proper amount of resistance with consistent operating torque.
Made for 4K
Designed to fulfill contemporary 4K production standards with its sharp optics, this lens features a full-frame imaging circle in a lightweight, compact design which sports a fast aperture that's ideal for low-light shooting. It also features a very rounded 11-blade aperture diaphragm for beautiful background blur and innovative glass construction that counteracts barrel expansion and contraction to avoid temperature induced marking discrepancies.

An unbelievably crisp lens. Obviously, there are lenses that are less that are probably close to being just as good (perhaps the Xeen lenses, haven't tried them but they look promising), and there are lenses that cost more that are probably even better, but the throw on the focus ring is real nice, the sharpness is wonderful, and the color is great with this glass. Also, Canon has always been amazing with customer service with me so that definitely pulled me to this series. Also, good glass never goes out of style so if you have the money to spend for a lens like this...go for it! If you are a run and gun shooter you may not need this lens as it's primarily designed for more of a set up, but to each his or her own.

Asked by: Oliver
Yes, you can mount this lens on the R5 but you will need an adapter to adapt the EF lens to an RF body.
Here is an adapter that will work: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1433717-REG/canon_mount_adapter_ef_rf.html

Ive been filming a lot of 8K 16:9 on the new RED V-Raptor with the Canon CN-E 24mm and 50mm lenses (using the Canon RF-EF adapter). Its been producing some incredible shots. Wide open there is no vignetting at that resolution/aspect, and closing down the iris is producing a really subtle and pleasing vignette. Some vignetting at 8K VV though. The 24mm has some really visible geometric distortion @ 8K. Id be pretty confident your 6K sensor is covered, but Id check out your camera manufacturers image circle measurements.

What zooms (besides Canon) do these match well with? I have a Fs5 and a Metabones, so I was thinking about getting these to go with the new Fujinon MK series, just wondering how they would match.
Asked by: Yann-Yves
The only zooms that will match well are the CN-E zooms. That is the concept beyond cinema lenses, that you purchase a complete set to get a certain look. There is nothing to prevent you from using different brands, but only other CN-E lenses will look the same. Canon does offer the 18-80mm and 70-200mm Cinema Zoom lenses that you could look at.

Is the CNE well suited for the Canon Cine Full Frame cameras as the C500 Mark II? the description mentions full frame DSLRs but nothing about the Cine cameras
Asked by: Bryan
Yes, this lens covers a full frame sensor. It will work very well with the C500 Mark II that has an EF mount and a Full Frame Sensor.

Can I mount this on my canon t3i.
Asked by: Jacob
There's an EF version of this lens so yes. But you can use a metabones adaptor to make this lens fit on a canon camera
