question
The cross pole seems to have different sized holes and one upright fits through hole and other doesn't? Not understanding the fit? Are there pieces missing? Just have 2 stands, cross pole and curtain? Are the 2 stands supposed to be identical? Help Thanks Tom
I have used this kit with the included white backdrop and two other backdrops. I needed to hand tighten the pegs on the stands because mine were a little loose and that was keeping them from easily fitting through the holes/slots in the cross bar. I also have found that I need to rotate the end of the cross bar a little in order to get the peg to fit through both holes in each side of the cross bar since it tends to rotate a bit as it is telescoping. What has worked for me is to set the stands up around chest height, place the largest diameter end of the cross bar onto one of the stands, telescope the bar to the length I need, place the smaller diameter end on the stand, and then raise each stand individually a bit at a time until I have the height I need. I do consistently find that the smaller diameter end of the cross bar is a bit more fickle when trying to fit it on the stand's peg. Savage also has a tutorial on their website listed off their product page that lists all their stands. B&H will not allow me to post the direct URL.

question
Does this background have a sewn-in rod loop on the long (24') side, or just on the short (10') side?
The loop is only provided on one short side. I did use it horizontally by using clamps of the rod and it worked fine.

Do the black and white backdrops both extend the full length of the stand/rods? Or is it sewn half black half white?
Yes, the black and white colors of the Savage Accent Muslin Background Kit (10 x 24', White Black) extend the full length of the crossbar.

question
Do you think this is a better deal than the savage economy product?
I'd say it depends on what you're shooting. We definitely needed the width, and it was helpful to have multiple muslin colors from the start. We also went with this because we needed full body shots to key, and the added length in muslin allowed for it.If you are shooting basic head shots or head and shoulder shots for video you might be fine with the economy backdrop. If you want options (also if you want muslin vs paper, paper is cheaper but doesn't last as long and harder to move around) I'd go with this kit.

question
What size is the chroma?
I didn't measure it but 10' X 12' is usually close to 120 X 144 . I hope that helps.
