Good background!

Good material. I don't know if it's scotch-guarded, but I recently did a newborn shoot. We set the baby down for two seconds, and guarantees, she peed. But a paper towel wiped it dry in seconds. An unexpected little surprise, and got us through the shoot. Stands are lightweight and sturdy. Good traveling background set.

Like everyone else has stated there's not room for the muslin in the carry bag (hence only 4 stars) You get what you pay for, but I for one am happy with it since I just grabbed a spare duffle bag for the muslin and steamer to smooth it out for actual shoots.

Perfect kit for student and more

Bought this kit because I needed a better background system for my classes. It's kind of heavy but it is sturdy so a good trade off there. The muslin is nice for simple portrait work and good quality. Only downfall is that the small carrying bag is only big enough for the supports and not for the whole thing. Will have to find another bag too carry all of the muslin together.

I teach a photography class at the high school level. The backgrounds are pretty good quality, the fabric is a bit thin - but does the job. The stands are bit flimsy, definitely need some weight to help keep them level. Overall it seems to be working fine so far....we'll see about it's longevity.

Good price, surprising dimensions

As noted in other reviews, the first thing I noticed was a hole in the bag. This came from the tip of one of the stands. This is easily avoidable with cheap caps for the tips. Okay, not a big deal. The stands and cloths are of good quality and fit my needs. These are my first backdrops so I was surprised the the 8x10 stand dimensions mean 8 foot wide and 10 foot tall. Why do I you need 10 foot tall stands? I'd rather have 10 foot wide stands. This is especially true when you consider the kit includes 10 foot wide backdrops! If you want to pull them tight you have 2 feed to pull back and clamp. Another minor thing is that the cross beam just sits on top of the stands. It is not secured in any way. Would I buy them again, yes. Just a few minor surprises...

I've only used this once, but it very easy to setup and use. It's plenty wide and the material seems to go on forever once in contact with the ground.

question

Do you think this is a better deal than the savage economy product?
Asked by: Anonymous
I'd say it depends on what you're shooting. We definitely needed the width, and it was helpful to have multiple muslin colors from the start. We also went with this because we needed full body shots to key, and the added length in muslin allowed for it.If you are shooting basic head shots or head and shoulder shots for video you might be fine with the economy backdrop. If you want options (also if you want muslin vs paper, paper is cheaper but doesn't last as long and harder to move around) I'd go with this kit.

question

I am new to studio lighting and I am thinking of buying this kit as my first background set. I am also buying from you the lighting kit ( Impact Three Monolight Portrait Boom Kit with Case (120VAC))... and I was wondering if the background kit material, size & color choices are something that would all work with the lights I am buying as a starter purchase. Are marbled colored back drops better/easier to start with..etc? Also, is there anything else I would need to purchase to make this fully functional for me?
Asked by: Heyde A.
I have just the black one, with the stand, and I'm loving it I wish I had bought the 3 colours, its VERY easy to put the stand together and adjust it, and the material seems lightweight but durable, I've only had it for a few days so haven't fully put it to the test but as far as I can tell it's going to be perfect; easy to carry with me, set up, and take down, and wash!
