The magnet may very well be held on by a screw. Definitely the joint that holds the magnet is removable. Then of course you need a screw joint. The end of the arm could go into the cage and the Adapter would hold the monitor.

The clamp is tiered, with a full 2" depth, but it has a padded interior depth that is 1" long. So depending on what you are attaching the clamp too, you will be able to use the full 2" depth or maybe only 1" deep. The clamp, which has a strong spring action, can be opened 2" to attach to whatever object you are using.

I guess it depends on how many segments you have and what type of angle you're trying to hold. The piece is pretty stiff to begin with, I don't know if it will loosen up over time. There is just friction between the segments holding the shape. You can remove segments, which would make it stiffer. You can have as few as two segments (the base and the end effector)The magnetic base is amazingly strong. It is difficult to remove from it's metal placement.
