General Brand NP11037 overview

  • 1Description

The General Brand 37mm Collapsible Rubber Lens Hood helps to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by shading the front element of the lens. Its collapsible, rubber design enables it to remain on your lens at all times without requiring much additional space and it also serves to protect the lens from accidental impact. This lens hood has a 37mm threaded screw-in design and is intended for use with normal focal lengths.

General Brand NP11037 reviews

37mm Collapsible Rubber Lens Hood is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Use on my Olympus 17mm F2.8 lens I use this collapsable rubber lens hood on my Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm F2.8 lens. It works well for both reducing flare as well as for protecting the lens. When the hood is collapsed, the lens is compact for storage. I use a 37mm Tiffen filter on my lens. This hood is mounted on the filter. Thankfully the combination of filter and hood do not cause vignetting on my 17mm F2.8 lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low cost addition to Olympus 45mm lens Since the Olympus MFT 45mm lens doesn't come with a hood, I decided I needed one that was just basic and was not expensive. This lens hood is exactly what I was looking for. The Olympus lens cap will fit the inside of the hood so both can be used at the same time. One suggestion: fold the hood down to minimum size when the lens is in a bag or case. This will keep it from being deformed while in storage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 37mm collapsible hood, it works. Works great, and I purchased an extra. The only issue with it, the tread ring is too wide/thick. I can catch tread ring intrusion into the frame, with my Olympus/Zuiko 14-42mm Micro 4/3 lens. This does not cause too many problems, once the lens has been dialed out to about 16-17mm. It serves my needs well. This hood allows much better access to both the lens cap and filters than the ridged plastic hood sold by Olympus. This hood would rate a 5, if the thread ring were not so thick. It's a great buy considering the ridged plastic hood, sold by Olympus, cost substantially more.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from vignetting on a 24 mm lens, even collapsed Really the hood I wanted to use on a modified Coolpix P330 to which I attached a machined stepup ring 30-37, but unfortunately it produces vignetting when the lens is set to 24 mm, even if the hood is collapsed. Maybe it wouldn't do it if there was no the front thread. Otherwise it is excellent for that price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rubber lens hoods are the bees knees Rubber lens hoods are great 1 they fold down around hood when not needed. take less room 2 they screw in and don't fall off 3 they are cheap. I buy 2 at a time 4 i can use constantly as they are less obtrusive.when folded back 5 easily packed fold to the size of a filter

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick and Compact Used this on a 24-64mm (12-32mm on M43) zoom. When collapsed works with 12mm without vignetting. When expanded, works well with 64mm. Takes up almost no space in bag and is always ready on camera. Very quick setup. Not are durable as B&W but very functional.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not what I wanted This is an OK lens hood. It shows in the corners in some of my pictures which I do not like. It collapses to easily so a slight bump on it folds in which can be good and bad. It is a good quality just not exactly what I was needing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adaquate substitue for Lens hood not supplied 45mm lens I use this on the 45mm f1.8 Olympus lens as the lens does not come with a hood. The hood for this lens is overpriced in my opinion.
