Conquest 8x42 HD Binocular is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost affordable, terrific Quality... Just received as upgrade to Steiner Perigrine (8 years old). I use for birding and find these to be exceptionally clear image. At close focus, feathers don't appear smooth but rather furry. In low light (twilight), these are remarkable. UPS delivered just at sundown and I unpacked and went outside. I kept looking as birds began to roost for the night. I guess night-vision goggles would be better, but these are pretty good. I studied specs. and ratings before I purchased and do understand them but have no way of assigning values but would say that I am thrilled with my purchase. Not inexpensive but well worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Glass!! I researched all the online reviews and spent quite a bit of time with hands on comparisons before I bought the Conquest 8 x 42 HD binos. They balance well in hand and images snap into focus with amazing clarity. Lowlight viewing is exceptional as well. Fit and finish is what one would expect at this price point...First rate. You would have to spend a thousand more to top this glass.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great price:performance ratio Optically, these guys are SHARP and quite bright. In low light these things really shine, and are absolutely worth the money. That said, there are a few caveats.Against bright backlighting you will get some green/magenta fringing. I was a little suprised by how much - more than my old $ Pentax pair. There is also a small amount of softness at the extreme corners but I don't see how this could really affect their use. These binoculars are reasonably heavy. The official specs say 750g. My digital kitchen scales say 812g.Note that eye cups have three distinct 'clicks' of eye relief, and can provide a bit of resistance to get to the second and third stops. For the first few days I thought they were limited to the first, so I found them a bit uncomfortable (I don't wear glasses). I still don't find them 100% comfortable and ocasionally get some blacking out while looking through them. All that said, I'd still recommend them whole-heartedly. In terms of sharpness and brightness they are excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such a good decision! After 20 years with my trusty Nikon 7X50 I needed a new pair. I researched and researched and finally decided on this pair because for the $ they are superb. A very good friend of mine who is also a serious birder recommended them. I had to come into the store to actually look through them and was very happy with the clarity. To get a 'better' image I had to look through a $2500 pair of Swarovski's (2.5X the cost). Even after the exchange rate (Cad $ to US $) they were cheaper by $20! The service in the store was excellent and having the ability to look through various models was invaluable. In Western Canada it was impossible to find a store that actually carried them 'on the shelf'. They are clear, robust, and focus easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Birding Binoculars Bought these for birding and couldn't be happier. Very sharp at any distance. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant Brilliantly clear in low light situations. Very solid feel to all moving parts giving confidence in the build quality. The focus requires little movement to go from close up to infinity, but can easily be fine tuned. They provide a complete field of view when wearing spectacles. There was no signs of black when the eye caps were extended for viewing without spectacles as detailed by another reviewer. I think they didn't extend to the third click stop. The lens caps are great. Perfect! For birding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good match of price and quality Thus far, I've used these bins for birding in open or partially closed canopy (no deep forest work). The clarity is far better than what I get with bins in the $ range, so I'm quite happy with this purchase. I decided to purchase them based on the Cornell 2013 binocular review, which I think was spot-on. Overall, very happy with these bins.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very sharp but flawed otherwise Very sharp view in center of field. Ok for the price elsewhere in the field of view. Has a bit of chromatic aberration but is not problematic. I didn't like the ergonomics, as the eyecups do not adjust smoothly and don't come out far enough when not wearing eyeglasses, so I had to contend with kidney beaning (eye relief too long, leading to partial viewing blackouts unless eye is kept perfectly centered). Also the friction on the focusing wheel is too loose and the focus changes too rapidly when turning the wheel. I found it a pain to focus precisely and keep it there. I returned these. I once tried the Zeiss top of the line and the view is even better than these all over and the ergonomics are infinitely better, and a pleasure to use. Too bad they cost a fortune but sometimes you just have to pay the piper to get top of the line quality.
