Flolight FL-110HMT overview

  • 1Description

The 110-240 VAC Flolight FL-110HMT Economy Fluorescent Video Light is a great choice for a studio fixture when low price, high output, low running cost and soft light are priorities. The FL-110HMT uses two 55W fluorescent lamps to give you an impressive 500W hotlight equivalent. That's impressive enough, but it does it with minimal heat and a low power draw of only 100.6W. That means that you won't toast the talent while saving money both on kilowatt usage of the fixture and on AC costs that would have been needed when the hotlights you used turned your studio into a sauna. With a lamp life of about 8000 hours the FL-110HMT is practically maintenance free.

The fixture comes with 2 lamps and a gooseneck mount.

Fluorescents give naturally soft, even light. The included slide-in diffuser provides an even softer light.
The FL-110HMT is perfect for studio or location work where power hungry incandescents can quickly overload available power. With just a fraction of the heat of incandescents you also avoid cooking your talent or constantly running air conditioning.
The FL-110HMT utilizes two 55W Biax lamps.

    Flolight FL-110HMT reviews

FL-110HMT Economy Fluorescent Video Light (110-240 VAC) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent for the money The goose neck that connects to the stand is not all that great. I've tried to tighten the spot that attaches to the stand but it always moves once I let go. This isn't a problem for shooting because once you have the stand where you need it - it doesn't move, but I would expect it to be snug where it attaches to the stand that's why I am only giving it 3 stars. One of the units has a slight buzz but, I''ll keep tabs on that to see if it get's worse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what you'd expect I think the title says it all. Economy. It's a great light for a low price. I get the same output from these lights as I do with my diva-lite 200's. I was actually pretty impressed. However, the build quality is subpar. If this thing took a fall, it would be done for. It's brittle plastic and the flexible mount for the light-stand attaches in a manner that makes me feel uncomfortable. There are two screws which attach the goose-neck to the light-fixture, although the goose-neck is surprisingly solid and well built, it attaches to two screw holes in the light fixture, which again, is made of cheap plastic. The doors on the light are adequate. Traveling with this light would be scary, but not too much of a problem as long as you insure that the light is somewhere safe. It folds up into itself neatly and is incredibly light. The light output is MORE than adequate. Honestly, I put it up against my Arri 650W (flooded) and the flolight was noticeably brighter (yes it was). If you want a studio-light that probably should never move, then this would be a long lasting light, as well as a nice substitution to a diva-lite 200. BUT it is nowhere as durable as a Diva-lite so if transporting your equipment is something you do on a regular basis, then save up for a kino.
