Think Tank Photo 700044 overview

  • 1Description

The black Skin 75 Pop Down V2.0 from Think Tank is a lightweight belt pouch designed to accommodate longer zoom lenses ranging from a 70-200mm f/2.8 to a 100-400mm f/4 with the lens hood attached. It can also be used to hold your 24-70mm f/2.8 with the hood in shooting position. Or, it will accommodate two hot shoe mounted strobes with the internal divider in between (instead of the lenses). The Pop Down feature permits the bottom of the pouch to release and accommodate your lens hood attached in shooting position. The pouch features an easy throw, elastic drawstring or hook & flap closure that will attach to any Think Tank belt, harness or belt pack.

The Skin 75 Pop Down V2.0 is an unpadded, compressible pack that makes storage or packing much more convenient. One of the most fascinating and useful characteristics of this pouch is Think Tank's unique "Sound Silencer" technology. The front flap is silent when opened eliminating the disturbing noise usually associated with any sort of touch fastener. This is especially valuable for anyone who shoots weddings, court proceedings or any venue where excessive noise is frowned upon. Think Tank also makes use of a "Rotate or Lock" system. This permits you to move the pouch anywhere on a belt or secure it one position. This feature permits you to align the pouch to suit your shooting position whether kneeling, standing or lying prone on the ground.

The interior contains a removable divider that can be used to nest your gear or removed entirely to create a single storage space for accessories or gear. There is also a front pocket that can be used for small accessories like memory cards, batteries or perhaps a map. A removable rain cover is included to protect the pouch against inclement weather.

For carrying purposes, the top of the bag has a convenient grab handle and webbing loops that accept an optional strap that will convert the pouch into a shoulder bag. The pouch is backed by Think Tank's lifetime warranty against manufacturer's defects.

    Think Tank Photo 700044 reviews

Skin 75 Pop Down V2.0 (Black) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Think Tank Skins work for me I have back issues that make carrying a heavy backpack difficult. I have found that a belt with pouches transfers almost all the weight to my hips and gives me more pain free hours in the field. I have tried a lot of pouch systems but keep coming back to the Skins. They are light, compress for packing, attach to the belt in a solid way and are flexible. For example, this skin can hold a 70-200 f/2.8 with the hood on or off. I like to put the camera with lens into the pouch when hiking to reduce the weight on the shoulder strap. Works well for non strenuous hikes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag, I recommend taking out the middle divider I already have a few other bags in this series so it was a no-brainer when I got this one. It easily accommodates my 70-200 f/2.8, and I rarely bother to unzip the pop-down segment. It comes with a divider that can be used to split the main compartment to allow it to carry two large speedlight flashes. I discovered quickly that unless you are using this bag for that specific application, the divider just gets in the way. The extra accessory pocket on the outside is also very handy. There's plenty of room for extra batteries and other random things you might want to carry around while shooting. One time I used it to fit a small camcorder. Do be aware that the skin series is really just for quickly changing lenses on-the-go. These bags aren't padded for transporting lenses. When I'm done shooting, everything gets packed into a ThinkTank Airport or Retrospective bag to get to the next location. When I'm using a big roller bag, I fold my Skin bags flat and just lay them over the top of the dividers. With my Retrospective bag, they actually attach to loops on the sides.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great Handles my 70-200 2.8 easily, easy in and out, with or without hood. When the lens is in use, the bag isn't in the way. I have the padded modular version too and prefer this one for active shooting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag I use this for my Nikkor 70-200. Works great....easily accessible. Roomy enough for me to also transport my SB-900 in the same case with the 70-200.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! Despite the specs, I am using this with a Sony FE 100-400mm and it fits nicely. Great product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice pouch but a little tight The pouch is nicely constructed and provides some protection against damage. I bought this to use with my Canon 100-400mm with lens hood and tripod quick mount attached. It barely fits in the pouch but is usable. It is very flexible and can handle lots of smaller lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded my expectations I use it opposite on the larger hip holster balancing out my camera on the opposite side of my hip. The expansion was unexpectedly nice - really practical; love it!
