Think Tank Photo 189 overview

  • 1Description

The black Lens Drop from Think Tank is a very functional pouch since it permits you to store your lens with hood attached in shooting position. Its soft lining guards the finish and glass of your lens even if you leave the lens cap off stored in the included slip pockets. The pouch is large enough to store small lenses such as your basic 50mm 1.4, 20mm f/2.8 or 35mm f/2 - even if the hood extends above the rim of the pouch.

The wide mouth opening provides quick access to the lens via its one-handed drawstring top. A top grab handle makes transport easy especially if you're trying to retrieve the pouch from a backpack or closet.

The padding is mid-weight and, as mentioned, the interior is soft-lined creates a gentle nest for the lens. It is supplied with attachment loops to secure it to Think Tank's optional Keep-It-Up shoulder strap. In addition, it will attach to any optional Think Tank belt or belt pack.

The Rotate or Lock technology will make sure the pouch never gets in your way when attached to a belt since you'll be able to easily move it anywhere on the belt to accommodate your shooting stance whether standing, kneeling or prone. A handy included rain cover assures the optic will be guarded from inclement weather and will also keep dust, dirt and other contaminants off your lens. The pouch is backed by Think Tank's lifetime warranty against manufacturer's defects.

    Think Tank Photo 189 reviews

Lens Drop (Black) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent improvement over old model. Everything from ThinkTank is absolutely awesome. I own tons of their gear. This Lens Drop is a new generation model that is nicer than its replacement. The spandex lens cover pocket is perfect - even fits a 77mm cap easily. The only thing is the barrel lock for the constriction cords is attached to the body of the bag making it nearly impossible to operate with one hand. (I am usually holding a camera and lens in my left hand and operate the bag with my right.) I like to be able to constrict and expand the opening with one hand like the older model so I just cut the little piece of fabric that retains the barrel lock to the bag. Problem solved! Works like I want!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is now a standard piece of my kit. Think Tank Rocks!!! The overall design and construction quality of this little bag cannot, imho, be beaten. I think the 2-way attachment options are the neatest thing about it: I can either lock it in place on the Think Tank belt; or leave it free to be positioned anywhere on the belt I want. The Velcro fastener is much larger and stronger than I've seen on similar items from other brands and the pockets and attached rain cover are excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful to change lenses on the go I used it with my Think Tank Change Up V2.0 shoulder/chest/belt pack. I also clipped/attached it to any belt that I was wearing, to go light. I was able to leave the rear lens cap off, and felt at ease. It's a well designed and well built product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recommended Well designed and manufactured product. I initially found it pricey but after receiving it, I must admit that it is worth it in features and quality. I attach it to the belt of my f-stop backpack and I always have a secondary lens available without having to open up the big bag. The closure mechanism on top of the case is very effective.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Think Tank Accessories I totally understand why this companies name is Think Tank. They clearly think through the products they develop. I attach the lens drop to the Think Tank belt and it helps to evenly distribute the heavy equipment I carry. This will hold a wide angle and 70-200. It also comes with a rain sleeve. I definitely recommend this product.
