Ape Case ACPRO1720W Overview

The black Digital SLR Converta-Pack Backpack from Ape Case is not only a medium size backpack but belt pack and camera case as well. Its versatility is considerable and gives you the flexibility to travel and shoot without the need for carrying multiple bags. The backpack itself is rated to hold 2 DSLRs, 3 lenses and 1-2 flashes. In addition, the bottom drop-down pouch expands to hold food, clothing and other personals that make this water-repellent 600-denier polyester pack a weekend option. The pack contains numerous interior and exterior pockets for gear. The front pocket is large enough to hold your iPad.

The versatility of the Converta-Pack is apparent when you consider the top is removable and can be used as either a shoulder bag, using the included straps, or a belt pack. The detachable pack can be fitted to the front of the backpack for more rapid access to your gear or worn as a belt bag for hands-free shooting. On its own, the detachable will accommodate a small DSLR with lens attached plus a small lens or flash. It even has its own accessory pockets and movable internal dividers as does the backpack. Speaking of the dividers, Ape uses their exclusive Hi-Viz Yellow dividers that are designed to make gear identification easier in reduced light scenarios. Access to the backpack is via two points - front and top - each having zippers.

Carrying the pack around is achieved using the pro grade, fully adjustable backpack straps. There is also a unique flashlight holder on one of the straps. It rotates and has click stops for precise adjustment while on the trail or walking at night. It will leave you hands-free for using your cell phone or catching a quick snack.

The zippered front drop-down pocket contains multiple inner pockets for small accessories such as pens, memory or business cards. Side mesh pockets with tie-down straps are placed for quick access to your tripod.

For maximum protection, Ape provides a built-in retractable waterproof Any-Weather cover - a must for anyone who spends much time outdoors. Or consider it a bonus if you're walking through town and the weather turns against you. Ape backs its Digital SLR Converta-Pack Backpack with its lifetime warranty against manufacturer's defects.

Ape Case ACPRO1720W Reviews

Not as described

It's a very cleverly descibed backpack, and it is one of theonly ones I have found that had all of the features I wanted. However, I had to return it because it is not as described. The descripton reads On its own, the detachable will accommodate a large DSLR with lens attached plus an extra lens or flash. That is not at all accurate. I tried putting in a Canon 5D3 with the kit 24-105 lens. It barely fit, and I would have had to remove the strap to close it carefully. There was certainly not room for a flash or a second lens. It probably would have worked fine with a very small DSLR.

Holds all my gear DSLR, Four lenses from fish-eye to 200mm, including tripod and mono-pod with room to spare for my additional camera yet to come. I especially like the removable Camera tote, always with me and camera is always safe and well protected.

question

Will this case accomidate a Tamron 150-600 lens? Along with 2 camera bodies, a Nikkor 70-200, Nikkor 24-70, and 3 more lenses?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Ape Case Digital SLR Converta-Pack will not be able to fit all of your gear. Instead, you may want to look at the Ruggard Thunderhead 75 DSLR & Laptop Backpack: http://bhpho.to/1xBfb3C

question

Just like the other question, can this bag handle the tamron 150-600mm with a D500 attached in the main body as well as a 70-300mm and a 17-55mm? Or as an alternative, the 150-600mm and d500 in the backpack and the other two in the attached compartment? Additionally, how secure is that top compartment? I would not want to risk my lenses if the top was not totally secure.
Asked by: Michael R.
Yes - d500 and 150-600 will fit in main compartment - depending on how the person configures the bag - they may be able to fit the other two lenses in the main bag or in the top bag.
