Optoma Technology PRO360WRFBA overview

  • 1Description

The WXGA-resolution PRO360W Multimedia Projector packs a lot of features into a surprisingly affordable package. Its 3000 lumens of projection power combined with its 3000:1 contrast ratio means it will provide a rich, vivid image in medium to large rooms even with some ambient light to contend with.

The PRO360W's star attraction must surely be its Texas Instruments DMD DLP (Digital Micromirror Device Digital Light Processor) panel. (The panel is the part that forms the picture.) This 0.65" chip processes not just the three primary colors that all other chips work on, red, green and blue, but also their complements: cyan, magenta and yellow. As a result colors are so clear and lifelike that TI calls its latest version of the technology BrilliantColor.

DLP chips with BrilliantColor increase the brightness of colors by 50 percent versus DLP chips without it. An added advantage of this chip is that it requires no filter that has to be periodically cleaned and replaced, saving you time and money.

But that's only half the story. Those millions of microscopic DMD mirrors operate so fast that they can project one image for each eye, making 3D in your home and office a reality. You bring the 3D glasses and programming. Your projector is ready to bring you everything from fantastic scientific visualizations to stunning 3D movies.

Another key attraction of this projector is its versatility and compatibility. Its power supply can auto switch between inputs of 100 to 240 volts AC at 50/60Hz. In standby mode it draws less than a single watt, and the PRO360W's rapid power-on and shutdown is another time and money saver. It's also compatible with PC and Mac resolution and frequency combinations so it's ideal for laptop-based business presentations.

There's a lot to like in the PRO360W so you'll want to secure your investment. There's a control panel lock, password protection and a security bar through which you can lace a security cable If you're looking for projection power, rich, vivid color and versatility in a very affordable package, the PRO360W may be just the projector you're looking for.

3000 Lumens and a 3000:1 Contrast Ratio
The combination of 3000 lumens of light output and a 3000:1 contrast ratio is rare in a projector so affordable. It means that even if you don't watch in movie-theater darkness you'll enjoy a bright, vivid image
DMD DLP Technology by Texas Instruments
Those bright, vivid images are courtesy of TI's Digital Micromirror Device Digital Light Processer. That's a long name for a tiny but brilliant chip. In fact TI calls the chip's output BrilliantColor. This technology processes not just the primary colors of red, green and blue but also their complements, cyan, magenta and yellow. BrilliantColor not only improves color accuracy, it brightens secondary colors as well. This combination produces a new level of color performance that increases the brightness of the colors by up to 50% over DLP projectors without BrilliantColor for accurate, true-to-life images. A bonus of DLP chips is that they don't require filters that have to be periodically cleaned and replaced thus saving you time and money
3D Ready For Immersive Educational, Scientific, Gaming and Entertainment Viewing
If you've seen a recent 3D film in a movie theater, chances are the 3D effect was generated by a DLP Cinema projector. That same basic technology has been applied to the PRO360W. DLP technology uses millions of digital microscopic mirrors (DMDs) that reflect light to create a stunning picture. This imaging technology is so fast, it can actually produce two images on the screen at the same time: One for the left eye and one for the right eye. Then 3D glasses combine the two images to create an amazing 3D effect. This projector is ready for the revolution. All you need to add is 3D glasses and 3D programming that can include lessons developed for 3D, 3D games and 3D movies
Digital Keystone Correction
Keystoning happens when the projector lens is not exactly parallel with the projection surface causing opposite sides of the image to be different lengths. The PRO360W can correct keystoning of plus or minus a range of 40 degrees
World-Wide Compatibility and HDTV
This projector can accept from 100 to 240 volts at 50/60 Hz and it can accept and project television standards that range from the North American standard NTSC to NTSC 4.43, PAL (B, D, G, H, I, M, N) and SECAM (B, D, G, K, K1, L). It also can accept and display these STDV, EDTV and HDTV standards: 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p

    Optoma Technology PRO360WRFBA reviews

PRO360W Multimedia Projector is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Resolution for Moderate Price The Optoma PRO360w has great resolution from both VGA and HDMI inputs. With a contrast ratio of 3000:1 and 3000 lumens, the picture is clear and crisp from our computer, even in moderately lighted rooms. We mounted it from the ceiling, and the projector's white color is unobtrusive. Using a wireless transmitter/receiver works well in multiple aspect sizes during presentations and instruction. The external speaker port allows us to plug in Logitech speakers and the sound is rich and true when watching movies. This is our second Optoma projector - the first has lasted over 7 years. The PRO360w works well when mounted, and is light enough to use as a mobile projector (we use a quick connect mount). B&H Photo has the best price....

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not HD READY I use the projector outside for movie night. I bought a 3D BluRay player to go with this projector. To my disappointment as well as my kids' this projector would not play 3D Movies. You have to buy an additional piece of equipment for $+ to play 3D. I also had to purchase additional DLP-Link glasses at $/ea. for the family to watch it. It is great, but if 3D is important to you, you might want to look for another projector or a package deal. Be careful with 3D Capable and 3D Ready. You will need to do your own research to make sure if it is truly 3D Ready!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value and Super Bright I purchased this projector for multimedia use in our church sanctuary. Very bright image. Great value for native widescreen. The setup menu is a little difficult to navigate, and the cooling fan at altitude setting is pretty loud. However, the unit is lightweight, and nicely portable. The manual zoom does not have great adjustment range, but at least it has one for fine tuning. So far, I love the unit. HDMI input is great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what its specs say. I have been using it since 1 week and I found it very awesome. Firstly I should thank B&H Photo video for the best price. The fan sound is unnoticed except for the high elevation set to ON. I could project 1080p videos seamlessly. Even in the Eco mode the video is bright, 3000 lumens is sufficient for my living room. I had to close the blinds during sunny days, otherwise its perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big bang for your buck We use this in our living room with a late-model Macbook Pro connected via Thunderbolt - HDMI. The user interface is clear and easy-to-use, the resolution is sharp and the picture is bright enough to use in the afternoon, even without all of the shades drawn closed. Throw in a tethered lens cap and a padded case, and this projector gives you plenty of bang for your buck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding deal at any price! I bought this product for use in my basement as the centerpiece for my entertainment system. I could not have been more satisfied. The first night I opened the box I watched Game 4 of the NBA finals in HD, worked fantastic, all guests walked downstairs and said WOW. Watched transformers blu-ray, incredible display. Played Call of Duty MW3 live, again the projector gave crystal clear display with great color saturation, literally felt like playing on a 120' lcd tv, also felt like an unfair advantage. Darks are great, colors vibrant, I would recommend to anyone. I'm pretty much advertising the dang thing to friends just so they might get the enjoyment out of it that I have. Things I was worried about -16:10 Native Resolution, bought a 16:9 Screen: Absolutely no problem. Have not run into a display that doesnt fit the screen perfect, and if I do in the future, the interface to change ratios to my preference is very easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bright and Sharp Our Church uses the projector both on conference room walls and in the sanctuary. Zoom and focus range is good for both. Audio could be a little louder.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value I'm using this projector for public film screenings. Its brightness (3000 lumens) and HD resolution yield a great image on the screen.
