Manfrotto MVR911EJCN overview

  • 1Description

Control focus, shutter release, and much more without touching the camera directly. The Deluxe Remote Control for Select Canon DSLRs from Manfrotto can be used handheld, attached to select Manfrotto tripod heads via an included rosette bracket, or secured with an optional clamp (model # MAMVR901APCL) onto any tripod head pan bar. It can also be mounted directly to Manfrotto SYMPLA rigs and used as one of the handgrips. The compatible Manfrotto heads for attachment via the rosette bracket are the 502HD, 504HD (both versions), and the 509HD. All other models have a different rosette tooth pattern.

The remote connects to the camera via an included coiled USB cable, and allows for over a dozen camera controls. It also features an LCD screen that communicates camera information.

Enjoy the advantage of easy lens swaps (since no follow focus is attached to the lens), jolt-free focusing, and control from a distance. Moreover, the remote distance can be extended by simply extending the cable between the remote and camera.

Note: The USB connection type is mini-USB, but it's the firmware that determines camera compatibility, so only the Canon DSLR models that are listed are compatible.

    Manfrotto MVR911EJCN reviews

Deluxe Remote Control for Select Canon DSLRs is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from NJ technical no follow up Bought manfrotto mvr911 ejcn after owning mvr911 eccn and okii. Both manfrottosneeded updates. Manfrotto US website has update download listings that are not correct to both of these models. I had to call technical to ask for the updates. They emailed them. Asked for clearer instructions on how to use the added features of the deluxe model. They had to contact world headquaters in Italy. US Technical never follows up with me, I have to track them down, they suck on knowledge of product. Instructions on added features of deluxe model are very vague. After realizing the added cost I can not recommend! Will post follow up, since no clear instructions on deluxe features will I have to play with it to figure out how to access features.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A start It sounds like a breakthrough, electronic remote directly controlling your DSLR. And indeed, it does. But it is only a start and needs some upgrades. First the pro's: Start/stop button under your thumb is a big advantage. Adjusting white balance while shooting even so. Controlling your focus with that same handle needs exercise. Twisting the handle too fast generates noise from the focus engine. But still the big advantage is too be able to operate your controls, without losing your grip. The Cons: The menu is complicated. The fist Con, is that you have to enter a menu before you can control anything. So that needs visual attention, which we need elsewhere at that time. Due to tat system it is not possible to use two controls at the same time, or change fast between controls. You have to deal with the menu first. The last CON is the aperture control. I can only activate this in automatic mode in the camera, the same as focus control. But unlike the focus does, the aperture control stays in automatic, so what you're doing is correcting the automatic aperture. I hope that this is my mistake, but I cannot find proper directions in the user manual.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great quality & design, the connecting cable a bit short... Great quality and design however the connecting cable seems to be a bit SHORT... no idea why... I'm now looking for a longer cable to connect the handle to the camera usb port...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not what I thought it was I saw this as one of the daily deals and went for it right away thinking I could use it as a shutter release to do time-lapse photography. My mistake though was that this product seems to be able to everything else except what I wanted since I have an unsupported body. I hope to upgrade in the near future and then be able to use this product for its intended purpose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If it brewed coffee it would be perfect Having just purchased the remote I'm still in a steep learning stage but all indications are that it's going to be terrific for both my still and video shooting. I'm thinking that it's the equivalent of a Swiss army knife - it can do everything except make coffee. If there are any issues, I've not come across them yet: so far so good.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice, BUT! I have mixed opinions about my recently purchased Manfrotto MVR911EJCN.Remote Control for Canon. So please read carefully! First: This is an attractive, offered product that with proper factory support should be very useful to many serious Canon fans. It offers quality construction, finish, features and design. On the negative side, I find it curious that there is no way to attach this unit to a tripod without apparently purchasing (or designing) some bracket to specifically attach it to whatever tripod (Manfrotto or other) you mayuse. Included with my purchase was a 'rosette' bracket, perhaps for this purpose but no screw to mount it - wherever. Calling it a remote control is a bit of a stretch since it has only a short (coiled) cable and that must be held by 'a third hand'!!! I don't regret buying this unit - especially since it was bargain-priced at a considerable deduction. However, now I must go back to my metal-fabricating skills to make if attachable to my nice, professional tripod!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Intelligent design The remote's design ergonomic design is well thought out. I recently bought the baby brother. This version is much more user friendly. The controls on both unit are equally responsive but the full size model is much more comfortable to use while moving around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from yes, I do. the build of the product is good. I always find that Manfrotto products are solid and by that I mean that they can be quite heavy, but intended for extended usage and built to withstand the rigors of professional life.
