You can capture brilliant photos and Full HD 1080p video of sea life at depths as great as 200', thanks to Ikelite's Underwater Housing for the Canon PowerShot SX240 HS or SX260 HS Digital Camera. The point-and-shoot's built-in flash can light your subject from within the housing. More importantly, it can also wirelessly trigger optional external strobes, such as Ikelite's AF35, which are highly recommended for the greater illumination and color correction they provide. An included flash diffuser softens the light of the built-in flash, while a supplied deflector redirects it towards an external strobe.
The housing affords access to all camera functions via mechanical controls, including push-buttons, knurled dials, and a lever. Dual 12-24 threaded mounts on the bottom enable the secure attachment of an optional tray and grip, which will improve balance and handling while offering attachment points for lighting arms.
Built for durability, the housing is constructed from corrosion-resistant polycarbonate, which is clear to enable you to monitor the camera and O-ring seal. It features a built-in, flat glass lens port with a 3.9" diameter, and is compatible with optional, external wide-angle and macro wet lenses. The port also accepts optional color-correction filters to restore natural tones that are otherwise absorbed underwater at certain depths.
- Depth rating: 200'
- Made by hand in USA from durable polycarbonate, which is highly resistant to corrosion by seawater
- Clear to allow you to monitor O-ring seal and maintain view of camera's controls
- Close the 2 double-passivated, stainless steel locking latches to see the O-ring form a solid, black, watertight seal
- Buoyancy is nearly neutral in freshwater
- Large, ergonomic mechanical controls, including push-buttons, knurled knobs/dials, and a lever, enable access to all camera functions
- 12-24 threads with 3" spacing enable the mounting of an optional aluminum tray with one or two grips, which will improve balance and handling while providing attachment points for lighting arms
- Built-in lens port with a flat glass front element and a 3.9" diameter
- Accepts optional, external, wide-angle and macro wet lenses
- Wide lenses increase angle of coverage, permitting you to get close to your subject while fitting more in the frame
- WD-4 Dome corrects for refractive magnification to take advantage of the camera's full angle of view underwater
- Macro lenses let you capture extreme close-ups with great clarity and detail
- Optional, external macro adapter #9306.82 fits over the front of the port, enabling you to attach 67mm threaded macro lenses from Inon and Epoque
- Like the WD-4, this adapter can be removed or replaced beneath the surface and requires no modification to the standard port
- Getting closer to your subject minimizes distortion caused by the water, resulting in improved image quality
- Port also accepts optional color-correction filters, which replace natural tones that would otherwise be lost due to absorption once you go beyond a certain depth underwater. Red and orange are generally lost once you descend farther than 15-20'
- Available filters include #6441.46 for blue water and #6441.86 for green water
- Color-correction filters work effectively in shallow, sunny conditions without a strobe. For the best results, use them with a manual white balance setting
- Camera's built-in flash can illuminate your subject underwater, but is only effective at distances of 1-3', so it's best used to trigger an optional external strobe as a wireless slave
- An external strobe, such as Ikelite's AF35, is highly recommended, as it has greater reach, coverage, and color-correcting capabilities than the camera's built-in flash, and will also reduce or eliminate backscatter, glare, and hard shadows
- AF35 enables easy automatic exposure
- Housing is compatible with an Ikelite DS Substrobe via optional EV Manual Controller, allowing you to take advantage of a flash with greater power and a wider angle of coverage
- Included flash diffuser softens the light of the camera's built-in flash, while a supplied deflector redirects it towards an external strobe
