MTF Services Ltd MTB4CANEF Overview

The B4 2/3" to Canon EF Adapter from MTF Services Ltd enables the use of ENG style B4 2/3" lenses on cameras with the Canon EF mount. The adapter features multi layer coated optics, solid aluminum construction and a chrome plated EF mount. A lens support bridge for use with industry standard 15mm rod support systems is also included.

Note:
In order to avoid vignetting, the B4 2/3" lens will need to have the 2x extender engaged and the camera's image sensor should be Super 35mm or smaller. HD lenses are recommended. Engaging the 2x extender also allows the adapter to optically correct for using your lens on a single sensor.

Exceeded expectations

I purchased this to run an HD broadcast lens on my Full Frame, Canon C400. Been covering a lot more trials for Court TV and really needed the reach of a broadcast lens but didn't want to buy a whole new camera system just for that. I paired this with a Canon HJ17ex7.6b 2/3 broadcast lens. Like the description says, you have to use the doubler, but with the C400 in S35 image scan mode, it works great. I'm completely impressed with the quality from the converter. No notable vignetting besides what the lens usually has. Images are super sharp. Focus works just like it should. Lens remains parfocal using it through this adapter and no spherical aberrations are noticed, even when the lens is wide open. Oh and since the C400 is RF and this is an EF adapter, I'm adding in an additional EF to RF for my use case.

To have no vignetting with your lens when using the MTF Services Ltd B4 2/3" to Canon EF Adapter the B4 2/3" lens will need to have the 2x extender engaged and the camera's image sensor should be Super 35mm or smaller. Can I use this to adapt my Fujinon 2/3 B4 lens to my canon R5 along with an ef to rf adapter?
Asked by: Jaycinema
The MTF Services Ltd B4 2/3" to Canon EF Adapter can be used to mount B4 to EF and then to RF but you may still need additional teleconverters to eliminate seeing into the lens barrel itself. Often times, you will heavily degrade the image doing such and it becomes not worth it. This does not make it full frame but only s35, also to be noted.

question

does this adapter correct chromatic aberration from B4 lens ? since B4 lens is design for 3CCD chip

The MTF Services Ltd B4 2/3 to Canon EF Adapter will optically correct for the different spectral alignments between three chip prism block sensors and single sensors as long as the 2X extender is engaged.

i can't gather from your questions and answers so far: do i need to buy an additional 2x (ef-ef) teleconverter in order to use old SD b4 lenses without too much vignetting? i am confused because the product shown on the pictures already has an adapter with a lense which i assumed was the converter? tldr: my lens doesn't have a 2x extending-mode. and i want to shoot on a fullframe camera like 5d mII. what else do i need?
Asked by: antonia
You can use this w/o extender if the camera has super 16 mode.

question

In the video you state that you can use the adaptor in 1x and 2x range however on B&H you state that you must have the 2x engaged to avoid vignetting - which is correct or have I misunderstood something?
Asked by: Craig
Craig, I have this adapter (no longer use it though) and although you have the ability to toggle between 1x and 2x, 1x has serious vignetting and therefor you must only shoot in 2x.
