    Nikon WU-1a reviews

WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 315.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Received this as a gift I received a new Nikon DSLR for Christmas and this was part of the gift. My husband was super excited for me to be able to use my 'good camera' for my online store photos as well as family photos that we share from our phones regularly. I loved the ability to do this as well. It has simplified my life and made my family and products look great!! My only negative feedback on this 'wireless adapter' is that you have to turn off the wifi on your phone to use it. Instead of linking via bluetooth like other devices, this requires that you use the wifi option. Aside from that small inconvenience, it is a great addition and we love it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great New Technology This is really a fun new gizmo. It's easy to download pictures I've taken with my D7100 to my iPhone which I can then email to family members around the country. Downloading is slow, so it's only practical for one or two photos. Using it to take self-portraits or group photos with the camera on a tripod and the iPhone to monitor Live View and trigger the photo works really well. You can see on the iPhone screen exactly what the camera will take. The camera settings have to be done on the camera before shooting, but hopefully this will be an added feature to the iPhone app in the future. Example photo taken with D7100 on tripod, ISO 800, 1/20 sec, f/5.6, focal length 31mm on AF-S 17-55mm 1:2.8G Nikkor lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does What It Claims I bought this so I could transfer selected pictures to Android phone while traveling. It's a little slow, but not bad for the purpose. The first time I used it I though it wasn't working. When the bar shows 100% transfer you might expect it to be done but it isn't. It might take a few more minutes to create and display all 800-900 icons for the pictures on your card if you have a nearly full card. Once it has the icons you can check the ones you want to download to your phone and choose the size you want. Downloading the actual pictures is relatively fast. This is great for emailing pictures to friends while on vacation without the need for a computer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wifi for Media I work for a newspaper and I am under some serious deadlines on my photography. My old method of delivery included my carrying either a laptop or Ipad, downloading all of my photos (5 minutes), selecting the shots to send and then sending them to my editor (if wifi is available)....total time: approximately 15 minutes. With the WU-1a, I can connect to my iphone while at the location of the shoot, football field, baseball diamond, press conference, fire or whatever, and select the photo to send, upload to my phone and send to my editor via eamil from my phone.....total time: 4 minutes. This little gadget is one of the most important pieces of my photography gear in my bag.I actually have two now, just in case someone borrow my first one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Save your money! I bought this item because it had some good reviews and I thought it would let me control the camera more than just a regular remote. It doesn't. I also thought it was just a cool gadget. It's actually a bit of a pain to operate and just because the picture comes over the iphone doesn't mean the quality of the preview is any greater than the cameras screen quality. In other words, you're not gonna get some crisp display by which to fine tune camera settings. I also thought I would need it to transfer files to my computer more easily via wifi, but here's the best warning I can give you, when you have the wireless feature turned on, your file will begin wireless transfer to your phone and it will take forever to download; especially if you try to download the RAW files. Keep in mind, while the downloading of the file is in progress, you cannot take any more pictures. Your camera is tied up for the entire process. Other than the things I've said, it does do what it claims.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cool little device Purchased the camera becaseu it had this option. Design could be better...sim card? It isn;t bulky but it does stick out form the camera a bit. Could get dammaged if not careful. It does come with a neat little storage container that connects to the strap. I modified it a bit and it is pretty convenient. Some reviews say it has trouble staying connected. I experiences some similar behavior although I think it was becasue my wifi at home was competing for the connection. I ssuspect this is less of a problem whne not near an automatically connecting hotspot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nikon Wireless Adapter - a MUST have The Nikon wireless adaptor is a great addition to the camera. Once you download the app for android or iphone you can remotely control your camera. It will also download the pictures to your phone or ipad. The setup was simple and I was taking pictures in 5 minuets. The unit is small,, this is both good and bad, the problem is it could be lost, they provide a little string and case so you can attach it to you camera strap, but I did not like that, to easy to catch on something and fall off. This is a great way to set up your camera on a tripod and remotely control it. I give it 5 Stars

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Limited use I wanted to be able to use this device for wireless tethered shooting. Unfortunately, the iOS app I first tested it with kept crashing on my iPad Air2 device. There is limited desktop software support for it, but it seems like the best options are third-party programs like dSLR Dashboard. The unit is small and not noticeable, but you probably don't want to hand-hold the camera while using it (put it on a tripod). This is good for things like shooting Santa pics at an event. I didn't like the lack of good instructions, and then each app (OEM or not) has it's own way of working with the camera. I got it to work, but it wasn't terribly reliable. I'll probably try one more time, otherwise it's back to tethered shooting.
