Finally!
It's great to finally find a replacement plug that fits the screw-on 1/4 adapters. I can finally restore my cans to like-new!
Almost Perfect
For those of you looking for an exact replacement connector for your Sony MDR 7506's, this is the best solution I have found. The connector is well made, and fits the original Sony supplied 3.5mm to 1/4 TRS adapter perfectly. But it's not a Sony. Here are the differences I noticed. The Sony connector was constructed with a small integrated PC board to which the cable connections were soldered. This connector was constructed without the PC board, with standard solder posts found on most TRS connectors. Theses are well made. I had no issues making the connections. The Sony connector barrel housing is made of metal. This connector is made of a rigid plastic. The Sony connector had a strain relief that fit inside the barrel. This connector has no strain relief. I elected to use my old Sony barrel housing with the strain relief instead of the barrel housing that came with the connector. Fit perfectly. I am well pleased with the product and would both buy it again.
Worked for about a year
This is an extremely hard part to find. I was happy B&H had it. I like doing business with them. I get that I am hard on things but I thought it would last a little longer. At first I thought my cord had an open. but it turns out when I put pressure on the jack itself it can intermittently cut out.
Perfect match with original connector
Like a few other audiophile dudes, the mini plug on my Sony MDR-V6s got snapped off. I found options for entire cord replacements (at high prices), when I finally stumbled on this part. I only needed the internal plug component, as the housing and wiring on my phones was still good. I simply unsoldered the old one, matched the wire colors to the right pinouts and soldered to the new connector. In all of 15 minutes, I was back in business, most of that time was waiting for the solder iron to heat up. Big thx to the guy who gave the hint about heating the casing to onscrew the old plug. Yes, there is a thread adhesive to keep the original assembly together. Heating the case loosened the adhesive and made is easy to unscrew the case to the get to the internal solder points. The mini-to-1/4 inch adapter screws onto the threads just like the original. This part is the perfect replacement for a broken mini plug on the Sony headphones with this type of connector, without having to buy an entire new cord assembly ($$$) when the cord wiring is still good.
Just what I needed!
I had a very hard time finding a threaded trs male connector after I bent the one on my Behringer DT 770 Pros and audio was only coming out of one side. This product was nowhere to be found on @, but my first search on B&H came up with the exact product I needed. After watching a video on how to install this connector to you headphones, I was up and running in less than 30 minutes ( I just need to work on my soldering skills more often). If you use threaded 1/4 adapters to plug in your headphones and you aren't afraid of seeing how steady you can hold your hands, this connector is for you! *consider getting some heat shrink tubing for the cable (PUT IT ON BEFORE SOLDERING YOUR CONNECTOR-I speak from experience...) and a hot glue gun for the soldering connections if you are going to do this yourself, it will give you much more peace of mind.
Perfect replacement for damaged Sony 1/8 (3.5mm) stereo jack
Perfect replacement for damaged Sony 1/8 stereo jack It would be nice if the whole package had come with a strain relief in case they were not replacing an existing one but just adding it as it is a really cool high end jack. It would also be nice if one could buy just the Jack without the screw down cover. incase they are just replacing a damaged one. My existing Sony style threaded 1/8 to 1/4 stereo jack fits it exactly. This product was really hard to find because it was not referenced with 3.5mm but rather 1/8
Great item.
Fixed my Sony headphones with this plug and it worked perfect. Nice quality plug.
Perfect for headphone jack replacement
Using this on my beyerdyanmics when I bent the plug. saved the expensive replacement cable cost (again) Works great with the 1/4 inch adaptors. No cable strain like neutrik, use hot glue or epoxy instead to stop the cable being ripped out.
