Manfrotto MA050A overview

  • 1Description

The aptly named Snake Arm from Manfrotto is an ideal accessory for photographers or videographers who want to lighten their load with a compendium piece of gripware that can replace a stand or two. Fabricated with 4 sections of aluminum tubing, the 23.6" arm is able to twist into a multitude of angles and lock down via the ergonomic T-handle. At one end of the snake (the head, if you will) are two male-threaded 5/8" studs. At the "tail" of the snake is a 5/8" male stud with a female 3/8" thread that conveniently fits into a variety of clamps such as the Super Clamp or Mafer Clamp.

4 independent curved tube sections for enhanced flexibility
Two 5/8" studs at one end with 3/8" male threads. One 5/8" male stud at the other end the other end with 3/8" female threads
Benefits: flexibility in positioning and friction control, simplicity, sturdiness, lightweight

    Manfrotto MA050A reviews

Snake Arm is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very sturdy. Typical Manfrotto quality This thing is a beast. It takes up a lot of room in your accessory bag, but it is very robust. It can actually maneuver into a surprising number of shapes and I have been able to position the load just where I wanted it to be. Even though it will support much more than a flex arm, it can make tighter turns thanks to the slip joints. I've never had problems with 'creep' or 'droop' while in use. It is Manfrotto, and I have been very satisfied with all of their products (once I switched their mounts out for industry standard Arca-Swiss). Only reason for 4 stars is the price. I got mine on sale and am happy with the value, but I don't think it's worth list price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from brilliant! Having spent years on set doing props end physical effects I wish I had this terrific gizmo back then. So much ease of use. Slack off the knob -- adjust the position with ease, tighten the knob and you are set.
