Useful, but limited

I needed my camera to be closer to me, and I needed it to be floating above my desk space. This does ok. Pros: Holds weight of dslr and wires well. Can extend nearly 3 feet. Has good range of motion in 2 axis(x and y). Cons: You can only rotate the whole arm(x axis), at the clamp and are limited to 6 positions (The hole is hexagonal). Also rotating the entire arm(z axis), requires adjusting the clamp. Finally, the camera mount has no tilt adjustment. If you want to angle the camera down (between 0-90 degrees) , you either need to have the entire arm facing the direction you want the camera to face, or you need to buy an additional ball joint or mount head. (Unless you want it facing directly down, 90 degrees is possible by adjusting the final lock on arm) I couldve probly figured out about the mount not tilting if I dug deep enough, but this one point really made this limited for me until I can find a good fluid head for this.

I'm using these on the end of adjustable arms, to hold Ring cameras in place for use in warehouse packing stations. The 1/4 screw is compatible with the Ring cameras and hold the camera completely steady.

The hinges require a half turn to fully lock and stay in place completely.

I use these for mounting my remote cameras with either the Manfrotto Magic arm or a Superclamp.

Works great. Looks great.

I researched the ideal boom arm for my Dell UltraSharp HDR 4K Webcam. I found the Impact 3 double and I'm glad I did. It has complete flexibility in getting the camera exactly where I need it, since I change positions from time to time. And ordering from B&H was a breeze, as usual.

I definitely wouldn't trust this to hold up my BMPCC rig, but it probably wouldn't have trouble with a smaller dslr.

I purchased this unit, together with an Impact Super Clamp, to support my Dell Ultrasharp Webcam. Depending on the web session I am in, I can either raise or lower the webcam as needed. I am pleased with the purchase.

How can I mount this unit to a table? Super Clamp won’t work. Need a permanent mount.
Asked by: Michael
If you purchase the Impact Wall Plate with 5/8" Locking Receiver, B&H # IMSRP123P • MFR #SRP-123P, and install it onto your table, then you should be able to install the Impact 3 Section Articulated Arm without Bracket on your table. https://bhpho.to/36YUojP

Can the camera bracket 'axle' point UP so that a camcorder can sit on TOP of it? The photos show the post which looks like the support for the bracket pointing DOWN such that the camera would have to hang upside down.
Asked by: Michael
Yes, the camera bracket 5/8 pin can sit on top. It moves 180 degrees. You can see the pivot on the arm in this photo, https://bit.ly/2WScxtK .

I’m considering this device to mount some PTZOptics cameras to a lighting truss. However it looks as though the knobs on the camera bracket extend above the surface of the camera bracket in such a way that they would impact the bottom of the camera and prevent mounting. Is this an illusion or would it be a problem?
Asked by: Peter
The knob does extend past the level of the plate. Depending on the size of the camera base you might have an issue. The other thing to consider is these are only rated to 3.3lbs.

How would this compare to the equivalent manfrotto one as far as stability and durability?
Asked by: Evan
Impact can take more payload and weighs less than the same Manfrotto version, however it could be said that the Manfrotto is built better or works smoother, your mileage may vary with that however. Stability/payload wise it seems Impact is the way to go.
