The Sekonic L-208 Twin Mate is a compact light meter which combines incident and reflected light measurement, and has been carefully designed to provide simple, one-handed operation. The printed digits are large and have been color coded for easy recognition of all readings. The L-208 also features a convenient accessory mounting shoe to attach the meter to the accessory flash shoe of many cameras, making the meter accessible and handily positioned for metering most subjects from the camera position.

Utilizing a lithium CR2032 battery, the Sekonic L-208 has increased operation time and fewer battery changes. Also featured on this meter is a battery check button to monitor battery voltage. A 33° measurement angle with guide in reflected mode provides decisive means for choosing values to measure in comparison to most economical meters with a wider reflective measuring angle. A new Hold and Read function grabs and maintains the current reading for 15 seconds after release of the measurement button, making more time for evaluation of the scene.

L-208 Twin Mate Meter is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 85.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well, not fiddly I bought this meter as an alternative to my Gossen Luna-Pro. This meter is much smaller, doesn't take up a whole pocket when I'm out and about with old cameras like a screw-mount Leica. The dial has excellent contrast and readability, I think it's easier to read than the Luna-Pro without my reading glasses. It can be used one handed, and the 15-second hold of the meter reading helps with that, but it is more fiddly than the Luna-Pro. The Luna-Pro still trounces it in low light, and does feel much better in the hand (but not in the pocket). The accessory shoe mounting bracket looks like such a silly idea I haven't even tried it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Handy item I shoot digital, but find this meter just the ticket for shooting flying birds. I simply take an incident reading, put the camera on manual exposure and fire away. Perfect exposures without worrying about the background the birds fly in front of. Unfortunately it does not do well in low light such as heavy overcast. Also it reads out in half stops, so you have to guesstimate thirds; but that has never been a problem. I have had this for a couple of years and had no problem with durability. I only take two stars off because of the low light problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best meter still manufactured! This light meter is, in my opinion, one of the best light meters still manufactured. It is amazingly simple, and increadably accurate!!! I depend on this meter to give the proper exposure that I need at the most critical times and it does so with ease and accuracy. I HIGHLY reccomend this meter. It is also extremely easy to use! Also, believe it or not, this meter has held up to being dropeed a few times and is still in top shape...Even though it is plastic, it was built well!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small, simple and easy to use This light meter is quite enjoyable to use. It easily flips between reflective and ambient light, and it's got a nice dial that easily moves to your desired ASA setting and to the light level detected by the meter. It also only turns on when you click the button to make it detect the light level, so you won't forget to turn it off and drain the battery. I bought this because I'm using a film camera with a broken light meter, but have discovered the additional benefit of the ambient setting has been quite educational. I'm an amateur, so I can't say whether it's got the perfection of the more expensive ones, but I have liked it for the first two weeks I've owned it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Non-meterered Cameras This meter was recommended to me by a friendly salesperson at my local camera store. I had purchases a Bronica with a non-metered prism, and I missed the convenience of having TTL metering like on my Canon digital. What really sold me was the included hot shoe mount; the little meter just sits there in the hot shoe on my speed grip, ready to take a reliable reading (having it in the hot shoe also orients the meter in the same direction as the lens). I quickly learned the routine: point, press the meter's 'read' button, turn the dial, pick an aperture/speed combination, set the camera and shoot. Sounds like a long process, but it all makes sense and is accomplished quickly after only a few tries. A+ Sekonic!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had it for years.. It does everything it says, and well. I haven't had to change the battery until recently, which has been a good 3 years of use. Not heavy use, but used often more than not. I've never had any problems with this meter. I haven't had the opportunity to use any other meters for more than an hour, so I can't really compare, but for a totally bare bones meter you can't go wrong. It's very compact, fits in my pocket easily which is a big plus, I personally don't like it sitting in the hot shoe. It's a little flimsy, but not overly so. It hasn't broken on my yet, but it's all lightweight plastic. Reads fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Necessary tool regardless of cameras used I've become more serious about my photography lately. My two typical weaknesses have been focus and my ability to meter shots confidently while using the internal light meter and bracketing. Auto focusing has been a savior for me. But getting the results I've wanted with exposure and outcome has been tougher. The Sekonic meter is small and accurate. I start my shoots by checking the ambient light with the meter to see what recommended exposures are possible @ any combination of settings. This allows me more options and more confidence in finding solutions for my desired outcomes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from ok, but i will not recomend. small, consistent and easy to use which is what i needed it for. perfect for my street photography. for the price though the construction is very bad. battery contact keeps failing and i have to remove the battery and bend it back out. when this meter breaks or i become too irritated with the battery problem i'll find another brand. i really like its form and function, wish it was made better.
