The 4' P6N Essential SurgeArrest 6-Outlet 120V Surge Protector from APC allows you to power and protect up to six devices with 1080 Joules of surge protection. It has an on/off switch, which serves as a circuit breaker and features an LED indicator that ensures that the protection is working. An additional RJ45 network jack provides protection from surges traveling over Ethernet data lines.

On/Off Switch and Circuit Breaker

The on/off switch provides power control to all the outlets and serves as a circuit breaker. When an output overload condition occurs, the on/off switch moves to the off position. You should disconnect all the equipment from SurgeArrest before you move the switch back to the on position.

Protection Working LED

The protection working LED is normally illuminated, indicating that the surge protector is on and ready to protect connected equipment. If it is not illuminated, it is an indication that the surge suppression circuitry has been compromised.

Building Wiring Fault LED

The LED illuminates when there is no ground circuit, an overloaded neutral, or there is a reversed polarity in the building wiring. Protection is not guaranteed when this LED is illuminated.

Network Protection Connector

The network protection connector provides protection from surges traveling over Ethernet data lines. You have to connect a network cable from the wall connector to the surge connector labeled 'In'. Connect one end of another network cable to the surge connector labeled 'To Equipment' and the other end to a router or modem.
Note:
If the SurgeArrest is to be used for network protection, connect only to Cat 5, Ethernet 10/100 BaseT service.
