STR-DR40WX Audio Case for Tascam DR-40 is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A necessity This case is perfect for storing and carrying your Tascam DR-40. The built in wind screen works great on the internal mics. The case has many features allowing for XLR cable hook ups, attachment to belt or boom pole or tripod. Protects the DR-40 from scraps and scratches and makes throwing it in a gear bag an easy solution.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good case but one snag Yes the case is slightly different from the pictures. Mine has a cover that goes over the dead cat with a velcro closure. Like that there is a velcro piece on the back of the case and a provided large velcro sheet that can stick to say a boom pole. That way you have the case attached by velcro along with the straps around the pole. Only 1 snag. The metal zipper in the middle of the bottom part of the case. It opens allowing 2 cabels to be inserted into the DR40. The thing is the metal pull on the zipper jingles loudly enough to be picked up on the recorder. Strut dropped the ball on this otherwise flawless design. I am going to have to cut the zipper pull off and replace it with a corded one for quiet use. Otherwise a well designed product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Don King Lookalike windscreen This is the perfect complement to the DR40 recorder. It allows easy access to all the controls and protects very nicely. It includes the best windscreen...which reminds me of Don King's hair...that allows excellent sound quality without the popping Ps or background noise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice This is a great case for the rain and/or just traveling with it to keep it protected. It is a bit bulky but in a wet situation, just as rain / snow, it will be good. I only traveled with it and have not had to use it in bad weather yet, but I glad I have it when I travel back east this winter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great case - differences from pictures This is a well-made case with lots of features but still simple and compact. Great for use with the DR-40. The zipper pulls are NOT as shown in the B&H photos, they are just regular 1 metal zipper pulls - I would have much preferred the soft corded pulls as shown as the metal pulls rattle; not terrible, and I could probably replace on my own, but a disappointment and the reason for only 4-stars. Also the STRUT logo is now appropriately smaller and placed on the top flap that covers the wind sock - see my customer photo. Zipper access to both sides of the recorder makes getting to critical buttons & SD card easy. The bottom mouth has Velcro to close the opening as well a zipper to make access to the XLR connectors easier. This closes around XLR cables nicely and helps hold the DR-40 in place. Without any XLR connections on the bottom the DR-40 can move up and down a little inside the case, but it's not problematic. Can attach to a belt or pole mount on back. I didn't really need the built-in fuzzy wind sock, but it does add significant extra protection to the DR-40s built-in mics.
