The smc DA 50mm f/1.8 Lens from Pentax is a fast f/1.8 lens for cameras with a Pentax K mount. Mounted to a camera with an APS-C sensor, this lens gives an angle of view equivalent to a 76.5mm telephoto lens--ideal for portraits. The wide f/1.8 aperture makes this an essential lens for working in low light, and it also delivers beautiful bokeh (the out-of-focus portion of a photograph). This lightweight (4.3 oz) lens is very compact--just 1.5" (3.8 cm) long. The addition of Pentax Super Protect (SP) coating to the lens helps prevent dust, water, grease and other substances from attaching themselves to a lens and degrading image quality.
- Very Fast f/1.8 Maximum Aperture
- Excellent Low-Light Lens
- Pleasing Bokeh (Out-of-Focus Areas)
- SP Coating Repels Dust, Water, Grease

Pentax DA 50mm f/1.8 Reviews
Great lens!
Excellent for the price. Fast too. Perfect go-to lens for anyone on a budget.
Fantastic Plastic 50
This 50mm lens is as nice as all the other 50mm lens that I won: Canon's nifth fifty, Fujifilm 50mm, and Nikon's 50mm. The 50mm lens is just a great go-to lens for street photography and portraits.
Nifty Fifty
Proper street lens for low light situations. Price can be beat. After going with three different mirrorless systems over the last 7 years, I've gone back to Pentax which doesn't manufacture mirrorless cameras. No gimmicks. Just a good basic lightweight lens for walkabout.
Great lens
This is a great little lens and is become on of my favorites that I use everyday.
Pentax 50mm
compact and sharp, great for street photography.
Lightweight, compact and arrived in perfect condition!
Very versatile lens that arrived safely in great condition.
Basic necessity 50mm
Love the low light ability and use with aperture override. This will force better composition skills and deliberate use of settings. Plastic K mount should be metal, but the price was right! I'll keep this one on the camera the most because it is small and light weight.
Nice portrait lens
It is a fast lens that is great for indoor portraits. Rarely have to use the flash to take indoor portraits which is nice to take advantage of natural light sources. Nice range of depth of field because of the wide aperture which can create sharp or shallow backgrounds which is very useful in taking landscapes and personal portraits. You can get very creative with your photography by changing the aperture settings. It is very easy to carry the lens on camera because of its feather light weight.
