The smc DA 50mm f/1.8 Lens from Pentax is a fast f/1.8 lens for cameras with a Pentax K mount. Mounted to a camera with an APS-C sensor, this lens gives an angle of view equivalent to a 76.5mm telephoto lens--ideal for portraits. The wide f/1.8 aperture makes this an essential lens for working in low light, and it also delivers beautiful bokeh (the out-of-focus portion of a photograph). This lightweight (4.3 oz) lens is very compact--just 1.5" (3.8 cm) long. The addition of Pentax Super Protect (SP) coating to the lens helps prevent dust, water, grease and other substances from attaching themselves to a lens and degrading image quality.

question

Does this lens work with an older Pentax P3?
Asked by: Trish D.
It will fit the camera, but I don't think you will be able to adjust the aperture manually. You can find manual lenses from the 70's and 80's that will work with your film camera. I have a couple of old pentax lenses that work with the k-70 but newer lenses aperture is not possible to adjust manually in old slr bodies.

question

Since this lens doesn't have aperture ring, What If I use it on Olympus OM-D EM5 Mark II with fotodix PK/M43 mount adapter(which doesn't have electronic contact), will aperture stay at f1.8 always? P.S. buying this lens primarily for pentax K5 and secondary for EM5 II.
Asked by: Vasanth V.
Correct, you wouldn't have control over the aperture and it would stay wide open at F/1.8

question

Does this lens have quick focus so that you can still manually focus when the lens is set to autofocus?
Asked by: Robert B.
With a little more force, you can make the focus ring to rotate when autofocus is on, but it feels like you shouldnt. It makes a grinding noise and when you autofocus again theres a weird clicking noise, which I think is things clicking back into place.
