    Lexar LRW025URBNA reviews

Multi-Card 25-in-1 USB 3.0 Memory Card Reader is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 298.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute trash!!! What a huge disappointment. The first one I got, the cord connection seemed loose and within 3 weeks of moderate use it would no longer recognize that it was connected. I contacted BH and they sent me a replacement quickly. The second one kept corrupting files I was transferring to computer. I thought it was my cards, so I kept throwing them away and getting new ones. Then within 6-8 months, the entire reader quit working all together. Absolute trash. I'm so aggravated at this. I paid a higher price for the Lexar model as most of my cards are Lexar and have been pleased with their performance. This card reader sucks!!! DO NOT BUY.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not UDMA 7 compatible I recently had a Lexar UDMA 7 card fail at the worse possible time (of course). I was in a major shoot and just as I was finishing up the card died. I was unable to retrieve the images on it by myself using two versions of Image Rescue software furnished by Lexar. I'm sending the card back to them for technical support in hopes that the images can be saved. One of the messages from Lexar Technical Support mentioned the following and I felt it worth sharing with others: Our LRW025URBNA reader is not UDMA 7 compatible and this could be the reason for the failure in your card. The thing is when you use a Non UDMA 7 reader with a UDMA 7 card it can work however the reader is too slow for the card. The card acting to fast actually forces corruption into the card. Over time whether it be one use or hundreds of uses the card will eventually find the corruption and cause it to have major problems or fail altogether. If you go with a Lexar card reader you will want either our LRW300 (with firmware update from our site) LRW307, LRW400, or the CFR1 from the workflow line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent build quality & price point I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and wanted to take advantage of it having USB 3.0 to read and transfer data from my compact flash cards to the MacBook. I called B&H customer services, told them what I used and had on hand. They recommend the Multi-Card 25-in-1 USB 3.0 Memory Card Reader by Lexar. In trying it the combination of this item, USB 3.0 and the MacBook Pro made short work out of transferring 32 gigs from the Professional 1000x UDMA CompactFlash Memory Card. After trying it I can now highly recommend this item to folks doing quality work and who need a device with reliable high-speed data transfers in a compact form factor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not consistently work. I upgraded a perfectly fine, but slow, SanDisk CF card reader, that was a couple years old, to this Lexar multi-reader to achieve faster downloading speeds. It is really funky... that is the only way to describe it. It takes a long time to recognize cards and when it does, it is not significantly faster than my old reader. On top of the insignificant speed gain, it has failed twice now. The first time It sent me spinning, using recovery software to get the images. This time, an error message popped up saying card not recognized by computer and I thought to take out the old reader. The old SanDisk reader reads the card fine and downloads the images to computer fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product I'll start out with just a few small things I didn't like: It was bigger than I expected, but then I didn't pay attention to the dimensions. It wasn't quite as fast as I expected. Thought it would be faster than direct download from the camera. On the good side, I love the fact that it folds down so that the ports are protected. Love the ability to insert many different card types. It has a nice fairly long cord. Oh one more downside...it came with no instructions. Easy enough to work but I hesitated to just plug it in and go. Took some figuring out on how to transfer from one card to another. Each port appears as a drive under my computer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact USB 3.0 Memory Card Reader that won't bottleneck This compact card reader will work with whatever USB spec you're running and will not bottleneck the throughput to or from your memory card if you have the current UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) USB 3.0 driver running on your machine. This card reader has a nice pop-up design that when collapsed will help keep dust and debris out of the slots. For a surprising speed boost that this card reader will work with, enable UASP or Turbo Mode on your machines USB 3.0 controller, you'll see an improvement in your USB 3.0 throughput; google the Tom's Hardware article referenced below. Tom's Hardware article titled: Faster USB 3.0 Performance: Examining UASP And Turbo Mode By Andrew Ku.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not work properly I trust Lexar and their memory cards, but this card reader did not work as it should. It imported all of the files on the card, photos and videos, but they uploaded with glitches. Every video had noticeable glitches and rendered them useless. Most of the photos were fine, but there were a handful which came out with unfixable visual glitches. It may have just been that specific reader, but all I know is the one I got malfunctioned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality, works well The quality of this card reader is apparent the moment you handle it. It is plastic, but it feels solid. Its construction is solid as well, and operates smoothly. After buying it, however, I questioned why it is necessary. It probably wasn't, since I have smaller, USB thumb drive-style adapter/card reader that works fine. Since I only use SD cards, I really didn't require all the accommodations for various card types that this reader provides. Still, it is a high-quality product; just may not be necessary.
