    Avangard Optics Mobile-i reviews

Mobile-i Car Digital Video Recorder (Black) is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value for cost We use this item as a front-facing camera mounted below the rear-view mirror. It provides a stable video which can be segmented into 13-14 minute overlapping videos or shot as one continuous video. Our usual trips run for three to four hours and we use a 32gb chip, which could probably hold 5-6 hours of video. It's a fairly good video quality with the 5mpx camera. Most road signs and many license plates are readable. We don't record in-car sounds for privacy reasons, but sound can be recorded. Video downloads easily to a computer or laptop and are of fairly good quality. Set-up takes about one minute to seal to front window and aim the camera. The LCD does not stay on during recording but can be fired up if desired with the push of a button.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ranger G revises his rating: Don't buy Bought this last fall; worked fine until today. Locked up; screen grey; not recording. In-camera battery down to about 20 seconds life before it shuts itself off, and loses all stored data (date, time, etc.) Now non-functional with no unusual conditions or treatment. About two months ago it developed a circular defect in the lens, but was still usable. Now, it just died. Don't buy. Period.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for Recording daily driving I bought a model that looks the same, but made by Oriental Inspiration. Bought this from B&H in February after an accident caused by another driver that lied to Police and said I caused the accident (He said, she said) I have found my unit works well, good video quality from front windsheild. Battery went down within a couple months, but I leave mine plugged into the 12volt, so it's not an issue. The only thing that I don't like is that fast motion (like turning) is ok but not great, however the video of cars coming at me or moving away is fine.I paid $ for mine, so $ is great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke after first use The part which attaches to windshield has broke after being removed once. Unfortunately, I live in another country and I can't replace the product. I usually buy awesome stuff in B&H Photo, but this wasn't a good one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Finally a dash cam that works! I tried a Replay XD 1080 as a dash cam--fail: erratic functioning, overheated, killed itself. Tried a Rear View Safety model--it showed up defective, minus a critical pushbutton. Ordered this, and am very pleased--it feels solidly constructed, the buttons are crisp and easily operated; setup is straightforward. I will probably modify the mount to make it permanent, but the suction cup works well and held snugly in a bouncing Jeep. Picture quality is good except for a very occasional split second skip that seldom shows up. It fires up reliably and keeps filming about ten seconds after power cut off. I was unsure about the shape--its designed for conventional sloped windshields and I drive a Jeep Wrangler, but it tucks up nicely to the right of the rear view mirror. Plenty of power cord to route around windshield and down the A pillar, and includes a two-outlet USB charger so you still have a USB charging port available (smart!). Instructions are clear although rather retro-translation...some amusing 1980's style Chinese-to-English glitches, but you can figure it out as you chuckle. Thanks to B&H for great customer service and helping me get to a product that really works--very responsive and they solve problems rather than add to them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would by this product again and again It is very good quality footage. Earlier generates some difficulty connecting the equipment in windy. But it is surmountable.
