Dedolight DLED4.1 Daylight Overview

Having paved the way with the on-camera Ledzilla LED and the 1 x 1' stand-mounted Felloni Dedolight continues to forge ahead with the introduction of the Mobile DLED4.1-D LED Light Head (Daylight). Again using aspheric lens elements results in an amazing 1:20 flood to spot ratio with a beam angle of 60-4 degrees that delivers 27,000 lux in spot mode at 3.0' with no UV radiation emitted. A wide angle attachment increases coverage 85-54 degrees.

The 5600K daylight balance blends in seamlessly in outdoor situations and is ideal for location and ENG work, and as is characteristic of LED sources, generates negligible heat. The DLED4.1-D is powered by the 100 to 260 VAC DT4.0-1 or DT4.0-1-DMX which offers remote control of the light's 100-20% dimmable light intensity. A DC power supply is also available for battery power sources up 18V. A full line of accessories from scrims and filters to Dedolight Imager projection attachments is available.

Dedolight DLED4.1 Daylight Reviews

Good but...

I bought the light for international doco work. It’s well built, portable, bright and controllable and can often help with exteriors. But the big negative for me is that the dled4 overheats and shutsdown way too often in interior situations. For non repeatable sequences and sensitive interior interviews this is a huge problem and too expensive for that issue. I’ll be replacing it for the next shoot.

Fantastic bit of kit, It's made by DedoLight.... What else is there to say! Solid compact light, a tad on the heavy side for it's size, but built like a tank. I've owned various Dedolight products for many years, this light is as you would expect... Brilliant!

Outstanding product

For those of you familiar with the traditional Dedo tungsten fixtures, rest assured that this is all the familiar performance but in a beautifully compact, color-perfect LED. The first thing I noticed (to my great relief) is that there is basically no color shift when dimmed, unlike most other LEDs. It has a very pure color of daylight which beautifully matches my existing HMI and Kino Flo fixtures. It also has an unmatched 4 - 60 degree spot to flood performance via a very clever, bellows-like design where the fixture itself expands and contracts. Cooling-wise it has a fan-free, heat sink construction that I much prefer, since some of the comparable brands I've used can and do make audible fan noise.Output-wise, it has a LOT of bang for the wattage and physical size, thanks largely to having Dedolight's patented aspheric lens system. At only 45w, I'd rate it in the neighborhood of a 125-150w HMI (app. 600w tungsten-equivalent), depending on what degree the beam is at when measured. At full spot, it's a very narrow beam of light that is screaming punchy. Like other lights of this output level, I would (almost) never use it as a keylight, but it's tremendous for anything else. I use it on backgrounds for general fill and splashes on walls, as a tabletop effect, backlights, rim/edge lights, fill, acccent, you name it. I haven't tried, but you should also be able to use the existing Dedo projector kit, should you have it, on these just as you would the traditional tungsten fixtures. Having this level of control and performance make it worthy of the Dedo name and certainly worth paying the premium for.

Very Powerful little instrument

Cinematographer - not photographer.Right now I'm using the DLED4.1s as a fill and edge light. Great ability to focus the beam, easy to control and you could literally put it into a big pocket (cargo pants).Spot mode, at 3 feet we are looking at a very bright, even a little harsh light, Put through a gel frame or a silk, Perfect. Color temp is solid, no green shift whatsovever.I will look into the DLED9 as a potential key light in the future. Dedolight does not disappoint. These things are build SOLID, feel like little rocks. My only down side, is that the cables are hard mounted onto the Ballast, Head cable on the light, howerver, is easily removable 5pin XLR.

question

Do you really mean that this daylight version is 27,000 Lux @ 3.0' - Spotcompared to the bi-color version; B&H 7,050 Lux @ 3.0' / 5,600K - Spot ?

question

Does the light work with vlock battery, and is there a specific adapter?
Asked by: Philip H.
This light can work with the Dedolight V-Lock Battery Holder with Loop and Belt Clip B&H # DEDLBCAV and the Dedolight 31.5 Power Input Cable with D-Tap Connector B&H # DEDLDIMBATAB in order to use a V-mount battery.

question

Can I use the Dedolight DT12-4 power supply with this instrument?
Asked by: Patrick
Unfortunately, the Dedolight DT12-4 is for the original tungsten balanced DLH4300 heads. The appropriate power supply for the Mobile DLED4.1-D LED head is the Dedolight DT4 Power Supply, B&H # DEACPSDLED4.

question

does this come in a tungsten version also?
Asked by: David
According to the Dedolight website it does come in a Tungsten version. I don't see it on the B&H website.I bought the Daylight version from B&H in June because it has more output than the Bicolor - which I needed more than variable Kelvin. I like the light a lot! Mike M.
