Record Everything
ScreenFlow 3's advanced algorithms only encode areas of change on the screen, so you can capture entire screen with the highest quality and keep the file sizes low. The ability to capture the whole screen gives you the flexibility to record everything and decide later what to edit out. In addition to the screen capture, the application is powerful enough to simultaneously record from your iSight or DV camera as well as microphone and computer's audio.
Optimized for Mac OS X
ScreenFlow 3 makes extensive use of the best of Mac OS X technologies like Core Animation, QuickLook, Spotlight, QTKit, Quartz Composer, OpenGL, Core Image, Automator, Core Data and many others. It supports Apple's Snow Leopard and Lion operating systems. Additionally, ScreenFlow 3 is optimized to take full advantage of the productivity enhancements, such as Autosave in Mac OS X Lion.
Pause Screen Recordings
If a break is needed during a long, continuous screencast, you can easily pause and resume during the recording process. Your finished screencast will appear as a single clip on the timeline.
64-bit Support for Audio Capture
The audio driver used by ScreenFlow 3 to capture system audio runs on 64-bit Snow Leopard Kernels.
Edit
Multi-Layer Track Editing
Multi-layered tracks can be created in the editing timeline to manage your video and audio clips, images and text. You can easily reorder, delete and resize the height of your tracks, group clips together for easy movement and insert or remove gaps between clips.
Screen Recording Highlights
During the screen capture process, ScreenFlow 3 automatically tracks the location of mouse clicks within the screen recording and enables you to enlarge and highlight those clicks to add emphasis in your tutorial. This allows addition of mouse click effects (both visual and audible) as an overlay showing your key strokes and even lets you zoom the mouse pointer in and out.
Callouts
Callouts let you highlight and focus in on the mouse, the front-most window or any on-screen content with just a few clicks. Free hand drawing callouts let you draw directly onto the screen with a paint brush or rectangle tool. It also allows blurring out sensitive data or creating a highlighted box around the content you are calling out.
Video Annotations
Video annotations let you draw circles, squares, lines and arrows over the video content. Because annotations appear as a separate layer on the timeline, you can also animate those using video actions or add transitions such as fade in/out.
Customizable Cursors
You can customize the cursor's shape, size, opacity and use your own PNG file to personalize and brand your demo presentation.
Motion
ScreenFlow 3 introduces actions to the editing interface. These make it very quick and easy to modify parameters of the screencast over time. For example, adding a video action lets you put zoom and pan effects on the clips, while the audio action lets you adjust volume at different points in the screencast.
Powerful Titling
ScreenFlow 3 supports titling and text objects, including multiple fonts and styles, which enable you to add attractive titles to your screencasts.
Transitions
There are more than 20 sophisticated 2D and 3D video transition effects that you can add before, after and between the clips to add a professional polish to the screencasts. As the clips are pushed together, transitions are created automatically, making it easier than ever to create stunning screencasts.
Clip Speed and Freeze Frames
The speed of the clips can be adjusted individually. If you need a segment to last a little longer, or want to demonstrate a time-lapse of the screen recording, the high-quality video and audio speed adjustments will prove to be a powerful addition to your toolbox. You can also freeze a single frame of the video, to adjust to the pace of the audio.
Advanced Audio Edits
You can detach the audio from the video in the timeline, with a single click. This allows you to edit the audio separately and even copy/paste it into another project. You can also select audio ducking to automatically lower background music whenever a voice over plays.
Powerful Audio Quality Controls
New audio filters provide greater control over the quality of your audio. You can remove background noise and smooth volume levels for better sound quality. Audio waveforms and clipped audio peaks can be viewed directly in the timeline, so you can see the effects of volume changes instantaneously.
Drag and Drop
You can drag and position content from the media list directly onto the main ScreenFlow video canvas. You can also drag and drop media (and copy and paste clips) from one open document to another.
Action Curves
For finer-grain control, the action curve allows you to set how the video actions are applied for your clips. Example, you can set motion to "ease-in" (start slow and speed up towards the end of the action) or "ease out" (start quickly and then slow down towards the end of the action).
Picture-in-Picture
With the simultaneous recording of computer desktop and camera and with the support for various layers, you can easily include a picture-in-picture effect in the ScreenFlow video recording. While demoing a software, or presenting slides, you can have a smaller picture of the demo artist or the presenter on top of the actual demo/presentation to make the experience for the viewer even closer to a real world presentation.
Color Correction
You can adjust the saturation, brightness and contrast of the video.
Live Audio Scrubbing
It adds the ability to scrub the timeline with the audio.
Productivity
Easy keyboard shortcuts for resizing the timeline, zoom in and out, nudging clips and time overlays make for a streamlined workflow. Context sensitive menus, support for the multiple selection of media sources and new track-pad gestures help you edit faster.
